To let visitors choose how they pay in a WordPress form, use a form plugin that supports the gateways and payment methods you need, connect the appropriate provider account, and enable the available methods in that plugin. First decide whether you need a standalone payment form or a WooCommerce checkout: the setup, supported methods and settings are different. Confirm your account country, currency, payment type, plugin plan and device requirements before publishing the form.
Choose the right WordPress payment setup
WordPress itself does not provide every payment provider or payment option. The form plugin and its gateway integration determine what visitors can select. A method can also be unavailable because of the connected account, country, currency, browser or device, recurring-payment rules, or the plugin plan.

Check which methods your form can offer
Standalone form plugins
The Payment Page listing documents a Stripe connection, customizable templates and placement with a shortcode or Elementor widget. It also lists an SSL certificate as a payment requirement. Use those instructions as that plugin’s workflow rather than a universal WordPress procedure.
Existing form builders
Forminator describes payment, order and registration forms with PayPal and Stripe, including Stripe Dynamic Payments and payment fields. WPForms lists PayPal, Stripe, Square Payments, Authorize.Net and Mercado Pago integrations. The Contact Form 7 PayPal & Stripe Add-on describes configuring payment per form and redirecting visitors after submission when payment is enabled.

Before choosing one, verify the current plan, required add-on, supported currencies, recurring-payment behavior and whether the integration embeds payment or sends the visitor to a gateway page.
WooCommerce gateways
For a store checkout, the WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway listing describes Stripe-supported methods. The WooCommerce PayPal Payments listing documents connecting a PayPal account and activating PayPal in WooCommerce settings. These extensions assume WooCommerce is handling the order and checkout.

What controls the visitor’s payment-method list?
The choices shown in a live form are not necessarily the full list advertised by a plugin. Check each of these conditions:
- Connected provider account: The Stripe, PayPal or other account must be enabled for the method you want.
- Country and currency: Gateways restrict methods by the merchant’s location, the customer’s location and the transaction currency.
- One-time versus recurring payment: A method available for a single charge may not support subscriptions or recurring billing.
- Browser and device: Some wallet buttons appear only in compatible browsers or on devices with the wallet configured.
- Plugin plan and add-ons: A listed integration may require a paid tier or a separate extension.
- Redirect or embedded flow: An embedded field keeps the visitor on your page; a redirect sends them to the provider and returns them afterward. The Contact Form 7 add-on documents a post-submission redirect, while Payment Page documents embedded placement options.

The following sequence follows the requirements and workflow stated in the Payment Page WordPress.org listing. Recheck that listing before implementation because plugin requirements and features can change.

Check the stated requirements
- WordPress 6.1 or greater
- PHP 7.4 or greater
- MySQL 5.6 or greater, or MariaDB 10 or greater
- cURL enabled for the Stripe API
- An SSL certificate for payments
Install, connect and publish
- Install Payment Page from WordPress.org, or upload its ZIP file in the WordPress admin.
- Activate the plugin.
- Connect the Stripe account that should receive the payments. Use the account whose country, currency and enabled methods match your form’s audience.
- Select a template and customize the fields, amount and payment settings. Decide whether the form is for a one-time payment or a recurring charge, and confirm that the selected method supports that choice.
- Add the form to a WordPress page with the plugin’s shortcode or Elementor widget.
Submit a controlled test in the provider’s test mode, if available, before switching to live payments. Check the complete return or confirmation path on the browsers and devices your customers use.

WooCommerce calculates the order and sends the enabled gateway options to checkout. A standalone form plugin will not automatically inherit these WooCommerce settings.
How to decide between the options
Use a standalone form when
- You need one payment, donation or registration form rather than a product catalog.
- You want to place the form on a normal WordPress page with a shortcode or page-builder widget.
- You do not need WooCommerce cart, shipping or product management.
Use an existing form builder when
- Your site already relies on a builder for conditional fields, registrations or order forms.
- The builder’s current integration supports your gateway, currency and payment schedule.
- You have confirmed whether Stripe, PayPal or another provider requires a paid plan or add-on.
Use WooCommerce checkout when
- The payment is part of a cart-based purchase.
- You need product inventory, taxes, shipping, coupons or WooCommerce order records.
- The gateway extension you need is maintained for your WooCommerce version and merchant country.
Pre-publish checks and common failures
- A method is missing: Check the provider dashboard, account country, currency, device and browser, then confirm the plugin plan and gateway settings.
- Recurring payments fail: Verify that both the gateway and the plugin support recurring charges for that method; do not assume one-time eligibility carries over.
- The form redirects unexpectedly: Review the integration’s documented payment flow and configure return and confirmation URLs where the plugin provides them.
- Payments are rejected or blocked: Confirm SSL, API connection, live versus test mode, webhook or callback settings and the account used by the form.
- Checkout shows the wrong options: Ensure you are editing the active form or WooCommerce checkout, not a different template or page, and clear caching before retesting.
Finally, run a low-value or test transaction, verify the provider record and WordPress confirmation, and test keyboard, mobile and desktop use. Keep the live plugin documentation beside your implementation because availability, compatibility and plan restrictions are changeable.
