To track WhatsApp calls, start with the app’s Calls tab for incoming, outgoing, and missed calls. WhatsApp Desktop and, where available, WhatsApp Web also provide call-history views. If you need a durable record beyond WhatsApp’s history, keep a private manual log: WhatsApp says, “You can’t email or export your call history,” and its internet calls do not appear on phone bills.
1. Review the Calls tab in WhatsApp
For routine personal tracking, WhatsApp’s built-in call history is the most direct option. The Calls tab lists incoming, outgoing, and missed calls; selecting an entry shows more information. WhatsApp also lets you remove a selected call or clear the log. WhatsApp’s call-history help page explains these options.
- Best for: checking recent activity in WhatsApp on your phone.
- Record scope: calls shown in the app’s history.
- Limitation: the history cannot be emailed or exported, and WhatsApp calls do not appear on your phone bill.
Before clearing the history, consider whether you need it later. WhatsApp says deleted call history can’t be restored unless you created a backup first.

If you use WhatsApp on a computer, its call-history view can be more convenient than reaching for your phone. WhatsApp’s desktop calling guidance includes viewing call history among the available features. Calls require an active internet connection, suitable audio equipment, and the necessary permissions; video calls also require a camera and camera permission.

Desktop
Use WhatsApp Desktop’s call-history view to review calls from your computer. This is another way to access history, not a separate export or a more durable archive.
WhatsApp Web
Meta announced WhatsApp Web calling on July 28, 2026, with a dedicated Calls tab that includes call history and favorites. The announcement said the features were rolling out gradually, so availability may depend on your account. Check whether the Calls tab is present in your Web session rather than assuming the feature is available to everyone. Meta’s Web calling announcement describes the rollout.

3. Maintain a separate manual log
When you need a record for longer-term reference or business follow-up, write down only the details you actually need in a private spreadsheet or notebook. This is a manual workaround, not a WhatsApp feature: it will not capture calls automatically. WhatsApp does not provide an email or export option for call history, and phone bills do not show WhatsApp internet calls.
A simple log might include the date, contact or business, whether the call was incoming or outgoing, and a short follow-up note. Avoid recording sensitive information you do not need, and store the log somewhere appropriate for its contents.

Which method fits your need?

What call tracking does not mean
Call links are invitations, not reports
WhatsApp call links let people join a call; they are not call-history reports. WhatsApp says each link has a different secure URL, personal calls made through links are end-to-end encrypted, and unused links expire after 30 days. See WhatsApp’s call-link guidance.
Ad reporting is not a voice-call log
WhatsApp Business ad metrics can include reach, ad clicks, cost per link click, and conversations started. These describe advertising performance and chats started; they are not a general record of WhatsApp audio or video calls. WhatsApp’s ad-metrics guidance covers those measurements.

Business calling depends on platform and region
Meta announced in-app calling for businesses using the WhatsApp Business Platform in India in September 2025. The announcement distinguishes that platform feature from day-to-day interactions in the Business App, which can include calls. It does not establish universal availability or provide a general call-tracking setup. Check current availability for your region and platform before relying on business calling features. Do not assume centralized monitoring or recording
WhatsApp’s privacy FAQ says personal calls are not audible to WhatsApp or Meta and that WhatsApp does not keep logs of who everyone is calling. The FAQ was last edited in May 2024 and discusses the January 2021 policy update; it is not a current technical audit. The official guidance cited here does not establish a downloadable call-history export, a call-recording feature, or an external app that creates a complete WhatsApp call log.
