If your Gyre broadcast is already live, a power cut at home should not stop it. Gyre says the stream runs from its cloud infrastructure and continues if your laptop is off or your internet connection drops. You do not need to keep a home computer running to maintain that Gyre-to-YouTube broadcast. A local outage may still prevent you from monitoring or controlling it.
What happens to a live Gyre stream when the power goes out?
Gyre’s workflow sends uploaded prerecorded videos from its cloud service to YouTube. Once the broadcast is running, the creator’s computer and home internet connection are not the source of the stream. Gyre says the playlist continues on its cloud infrastructure if the laptop is off, the browser is closed, or the creator’s internet connection drops. That distinction matters during an Indian power cut: the local electricity supply can fail without cutting the broadcast already being sent from Gyre’s cloud to YouTube. But the outage can take away your access to the router, YouTube Studio, or Gyre dashboard, so you may not be able to check the stream or make changes until connectivity returns.
What to do before and during the outage
- Prepare and start the broadcast. Upload the prerecorded video files to Gyre, assemble the playlist, connect your YouTube channel, then start or schedule the stream. Confirm that YouTube shows it as live before relying on the cloud workflow.
- After it is live, the computer can be off. Gyre says the cloud broadcast continues without your local laptop, desktop, or open browser. A UPS for the computer is therefore not required just to keep this Gyre-hosted stream running.
- Decide whether you need local access. If you want to reach the dashboard or YouTube Studio during a cut, keep the necessary local network equipment powered. Depending on your installation, that may include the router, modem or optical network terminal (ONT), and a separate Power over Ethernet (PoE) injector.
- Check the ISP dependency. A local backup battery can power compatible equipment, but it cannot guarantee that your provider’s upstream network or neighborhood equipment remains available. ISP performance during power cuts depends on your location and provider; no India-wide assurance applies.

When a router UPS is useful—and when it is not
A router UPS is optional if you want to preserve local connectivity for monitoring or control. It is not what keeps a Gyre cloud broadcast alive. Before buying one, check each device in your connection path: required input voltage, current draw, connector size and polarity, and whether the backup can also power the modem/ONT or any PoE equipment. A unit that fits the router may not power the rest of the installation.

For example, Zebronics lists the EnergiUPS 4K (ZEB-RUPS 2) for routers, CCTV cameras, modems, and set-top boxes, with 12V output, up to 3A, and up to four hours’ backup. Those are manufacturer specifications and a maximum runtime claim, not an independent test or a guarantee for your load. If you use a local encoder instead
A locally encoded stream is different: your source and network must remain powered and connected for the broadcast to continue. YouTube recommends preparing encoder redundancy ahead of time and testing the switch from primary to backup by stopping the primary encoder or unplugging its Ethernet cable, then checking that the player switches to the backup. This failover advice applies to local encoder setups; it is not necessary to run a backup encoder at home merely because a Gyre cloud-hosted stream is live. Gyre file and YouTube requirements to check
- Use uploaded prerecorded files. Gyre’s knowledge base says video files must be uploaded to Gyre storage. Its published HD/full-HD guidance lists 1280×720 or 1920×1080 resolution, H.264 video, 3072–6144 kbps video bitrate, 128 kbps audio bitrate, and 30 fps. The support page was marked as updated about a year ago, so verify the current requirements before preparing a new video library. Gyre upload guidance
- Meet YouTube live eligibility. YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check current channel status and platform requirements before scheduling. YouTube live-streaming eligibility
- Review authorization and monetization settings. Gyre’s September 2026 article describes connecting through YouTube API authorization and manual stream-key setup for advanced configurations. It says monetization on API-created streams depends on enabling the relevant third-party monetization default in YouTube Studio. - Use content you have rights to stream. A stream that remains technically live can still face copyright claims, restrictions, or removal. Confirm that you own or have permission for the video and audio in every playlist item, and review YouTube’s current copyright rules before broadcasting.

Do I need a UPS for Gyre streaming?
Not to keep an already-live Gyre cloud broadcast running. A compatible UPS is only relevant if you want local equipment, such as your router, to stay powered for access.
Will a router UPS keep my internet working during a power cut?
It can power compatible local equipment, but it cannot guarantee that the ISP’s upstream network is available.
