You can run a 24/7 Tamil songs stream from a spare laptop by looping authorized audio or video in OBS Studio and sending it to YouTube Live. Before you start, confirm your channel can livestream and that you have the necessary rights to every song and visual. Then test the full setup—including playback, upload connection, stream health, and local recording—before leaving it unattended. A spare laptop can keep the stream running, but it cannot guarantee uninterrupted uptime.
Before you set up the stream
Confirm YouTube livestream eligibility
Check livestream access in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room before choosing a launch date. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube for Artists advises first-time streamers to verify their account at least 24 hours before the first planned stream. See YouTube’s livestreaming setup guidance and YouTube for Artists.
Clear the rights to the music and visuals
Permission to listen to or download a song does not necessarily include permission to livestream it. Secure the rights needed for the intended YouTube livestream and territory, including rights for any accompanying images or video. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches and may interrupt or terminate a stream when it detects unresolved matched content. If a label or distributor has licensed the music to you, ask it to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist: a license alone may not prevent an automated interruption. How to loop Tamil songs in OBS
Use one file or a playlist
- Create a scene. In OBS Studio, add a scene for the Tamil songs stream. Add the visual you are authorized to use, such as a still image or a video, and set up the audio source.
- Loop a single file. Add the local recording as a Media Source and enable Loop in its properties. Play it through to the end once to confirm that it restarts as intended.
- Loop a collection. Add a VLC Video source and build a playlist of files. Set Loop Playlist to repeat it; use Shuffle Playlist only if you want songs in a changing order. OBS notes that VLC must be installed for the VLC Video source to appear. Refer to the OBS Media Sources documentation.
- Check transitions and levels. Listen through song changes and watch the visual for gaps, unintended black frames, or abrupt cuts. Confirm the audio reaches OBS’s meters without clipping. Test with the same type of sound and movement you expect in the broadcast; a still image may put less demand on the encoder than a moving video.
Loop controls only determine how OBS repeats the source. They do not grant music rights or establish that a particular laptop can decode and stream the playlist continuously.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Create or schedule an encoder broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and choose the encoder workflow to create or schedule a broadcast. Check the broadcast settings before using it for an unattended stream.
- Connect the encoder. If OBS offers YouTube as a service, select it and follow its connection flow. Otherwise, copy the server URL and stream key shown in YouTube Studio into OBS’s stream settings. Treat the stream key like a password; do not publish or share it.
- Send a test signal. Start streaming in OBS and confirm that YouTube’s Live Control Room receives the preview, with the intended audio and picture. Depending on the workflow, you may still need to select Go Live in YouTube Studio.
- Set event behavior deliberately. Review auto-start and auto-stop settings for scheduled broadcasts. They affect whether an event starts or ends automatically; do not assume a reconnect will always preserve the broadcast. OBS integration and YouTube broadcast options are described in OBS’s streaming guide and YouTube’s Live Control Room guidance.
Choose settings the laptop and connection can sustain
There is no safe universal bitrate or resolution for an unspecified spare laptop and internet plan. YouTube recommends testing upload capacity, selecting a quality level appropriate to the connection, and checking stream health. Its encoder guidance supports RTMP or RTMPS, H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, up to 60 fps, CBR, a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport. Use YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrates guidance to check current recommendations.
For H.264, YouTube’s recommended bitrate table lists 3 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps and 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. These are platform recommendations, not a guarantee that your laptop or connection can sustain either setting. Run an upload speed test and configure OBS conservatively. For an audio-focused stream with a still or minimally moving visual, try a modest resolution and frame rate that the laptop and connection can handle, then assess the YouTube preview and stream-health status. This is a practical starting approach, not a certified setting for your machine.

Test, monitor, and prepare to recover
Run a representative preflight
- Check that the intended scene and playlist are active and the songs and visual play as expected.
- Confirm audio is reaching the YouTube preview and that the stream-health display has no unresolved warnings.
- Test the actual laptop and network for a representative period with the same kind of audio and motion as the intended stream.
- Start a local recording and confirm the file is being written and growing. YouTube’s livestreaming tips recommend monitoring audio and video and checking local archive files.
Know what to check after an interruption
If the stream stops, check the Live Control Room and OBS for connection, encoder, or channel-access problems before reconnecting. If you are using a scheduled broadcast, its settings affect whether you can resume the existing event. OBS guidance in its community forum describes disabling auto-stop for scheduled streams as a possible way to avoid ending a broadcast on disconnect; that behavior is version-sensitive advice, not a promise of seamless recovery. A laptop, power supply, home network, encoder process, YouTube access, or rights issue can all interrupt a one-laptop setup.

Plan for recordings and viewer rewind
A continuous livestream is not the same as a guaranteed continuous replay. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube separately says DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Archiving is about whether a replay is saved after the stream ends; DVR is about whether viewers can rewind while it is live. If reliable replays matter, keep a local recording and consider whether planned shorter broadcasts fit your channel’s needs. YouTube does not establish that restarting broadcasts will solve archive or recovery needs. Check YouTube’s archive guidance and its DVR guidance.
