Check whether your LG TV supports the app
Do not assume that every LG Smart TV can install Apple TV. Availability depends on the TV model and country. LG recommends checking its Content Store using the country and model name, then reviewing the webOS versions listed for the app. That model-and-country check is more useful than relying on a general year range. LG’s compatibility guidance notes that supported apps may vary by country and smart TV model.
The Apple TV app is the application; Apple TV+ is a subscription service and catalog available through it. Installing the app does not itself establish that you have an Apple TV+ subscription.
LG announced a limited Apple TV+ trial for certain compatible 4K and 8K Smart TVs from model year 2018 onward, along with named lifestyle-screen products. That promotion ran from February 6 through April 30, 2024, and has expired. It was historical promotional eligibility, not a current guarantee that a particular TV supports the app. LG’s February 2024 announcement also described the trial as available in 93 countries; that figure refers to the promotion, not current app availability.

Recheck model and region support. Search the LG Content Store with the correct country and TV model. If Apple TV is not listed for that combination, the TV may not support the app.
LG publishes different menu paths for LG Services Country and network settings across webOS 26 and later, webOS 6, webOS 5, webOS 4.5, and earlier versions. A factory reset should be a last resort: LG warns that it removes account settings and installed apps. Check LG’s support instructions for the menu path that matches your software.
