You can try Brackets on Ubuntu using a third-party AppImage: download the file, make it executable, then open it from the file manager. This is not an Adobe-supported installation, and the available instructions do not confirm that the AppImage works on current Ubuntu releases. Adobe archived Brackets and ended support in 2021.
Install Brackets using the third-party AppImage
The AppImage listing provides a simple launch procedure for Brackets. AppImages do not need to be installed first, but the listing warns that AppImages are usually not verified by others. Treat this as a third-party option, not an Adobe-maintained or independently vetted download.

Download the Brackets AppImage from the Brackets AppImage listing.

Open a terminal in the directory where the downloaded file is saved. Make the AppImage executable by running:

chmod +x ./*.AppImageThis example applies executable permission to every AppImage in that directory. If it contains other AppImages, use the downloaded Brackets file’s exact name instead of the wildcard.

Open the file manager, find the Brackets AppImage, and double-click it to launch.

The listing documents these steps but does not confirm that its Brackets binary is independently verified or works with any particular current Ubuntu version. If it fails to launch, the available evidence does not establish a reliable Ubuntu-specific fix.
What to know about Adobe’s Ubuntu packages
Adobe’s official Brackets repository is archived and read-only. It states, “On September 1, 2021, Adobe will end support for Brackets.” Adobe’s release notes for Brackets 1.14 list Ubuntu 16.04, 18.04, and 18.10, as well as Debian 8 and 9. Those are historical platform targets, not evidence that the old package is compatible with or supported on current Ubuntu.

Although the repository links to Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) installers, that general download reference should be read in light of the archived project and release-specific platform notes. The official releases page identifies Brackets 1.14.2 as the latest official release and describes it as targeting Mac and Windows only. Do not assume an old Debian/Ubuntu package is a current, supported Ubuntu installer.

Is the community fork an alternative?
A community-maintained Brackets project has a 2.1.2 release. The reviewed release page shows Windows and Mac installer assets, but no confirmed Linux installer. Do not treat it as a Linux installation route unless its current release assets specifically include one.
