You can download Xfinity Stream directly on compatible LG and Samsung smart TVs; Xumo TVs come with the app preinstalled. On an LG or Samsung TV, link the manufacturer account, find the app in the TV’s app store, install it, then follow the on-screen activation prompts and sign in with your Xfinity ID. Other smart-TV brands and models may not support direct installation, so check Xfinity’s current compatibility guidance before troubleshooting a missing app.
Check whether your TV supports Xfinity Stream
Xfinity’s smart-TV setup guidance covers compatible LG and Samsung televisions. Xumo Smart TVs have Xfinity Stream preinstalled. That does not mean every model from those brands is supported: compatibility depends on the TV model and software, and availability can change. Check Xfinity’s current activation guidance for your television before proceeding.
Have your Xfinity ID and password ready, and connect the TV to the internet. The programs you can watch after signing in depend on your Xfinity service, channel lineup, location and network.

Download the app on an LG or Samsung TV
- Link the TV’s manufacturer account. Sign in to the relevant LG or Samsung account on the television. Xfinity says this account must be linked before you can download the app.
- Open the TV’s app store. Search for Xfinity Stream.
- Install the app. Select it and choose the on-screen Download or Install option. Menu labels and locations can vary by TV model and software version.
- Open Xfinity Stream. Follow the activation prompts shown on the TV. If it displays an authorization code, use the second-device instructions shown on screen to authorize the TV at xfinity.com/authorize.
- Sign in. Enter your Xfinity ID and password when prompted, then follow the app’s instructions to start watching.

Set up Xfinity Stream on a Xumo TV
The app is preinstalled on Xumo Smart TVs, so there is no app-store download step. During TV setup, link the app to your Xfinity ID and follow the on-screen directions. Xfinity TV service is required to watch Xfinity Stream on Xumo; Xfinity Internet service by itself is not enough. See Xfinity’s Xumo and smart-TV activation instructions for current steps.
If Xfinity Stream is missing from your TV’s app store
A missing app may mean your TV model does not support direct installation. Don’t assume that changing app-store settings will make an unsupported TV compatible. Check Xfinity’s current requirements for your exact model, then choose a supported alternative if needed.

Use a compatible Amazon Fire TV device
Xfinity documents support for most Amazon Fire TV devices; check the current Fire TV system requirements for the exact model before buying or setting one up. Link an Amazon account to the Fire TV, install Xfinity Stream from the Amazon Appstore, open it and select Sign in. Use a separate phone, tablet or computer to enter the displayed six-digit activation code at xfinity.com/authorize. Xfinity says a partner device can be used without renting an Xfinity TV Box.

Use a compatible Apple TV
Xfinity says the app works on Apple TV devices that support tvOS 18 or later. Its examples include Apple TV 4K (2021), Apple TV 4K (2017) and Apple TV HD (2015); check Xfinity’s live Apple TV requirements because supported models can change. Sign in to an Apple account on the device, download Xfinity Stream from the App Store, and complete the code-based authorization using a second device.

Cast from an iPhone or iPad with AirPlay
If you have an iPhone or iPad and a compatible AirPlay receiver, you can cast from the Xfinity Stream iOS app instead of installing the app on the TV. Xfinity’s AirPlay FAQ specifies Xfinity Stream app version 7.8.0 or later and iOS 17.0. AirPlay is a casting option, not a TV app installation; device discovery may require local-network permission. Follow Xfinity’s AirPlay setup instructions.
What you can watch depends on your service and connection
Installing the app does not unlock every channel or program. Live TV and Xfinity On Demand require Xfinity TV service, and available programming follows your subscription and channel lineup. Xfinity says some customers without Xfinity TV may still access select content through Fire TV; see its Fire TV support page for the applicable details.

On Fire TV, Xfinity says the full channel lineup and full On Demand library require an in-home Xfinity Internet connection. Away from home, programming is identified as “TV Go”; recording playback away from home requires Wi-Fi or a mobile network, and cellular use may incur data charges. Pay-per-view events are not available in the Fire TV app. Partner devices may also lack some X1 features.
Fire TV stream limits are service-specific: X1 customers can stream on five devices at once, with no more than three streams outside the in-home Wi-Fi network; Xfinity Instant TV allows two concurrent streams; and Xfinity On Campus allows one. These limits are listed in Xfinity’s Fire TV guidance and may change.

Troubleshoot installation or activation
- The app does not appear in search: Confirm your TV model is supported in Xfinity’s current smart-TV requirements. If it is not, consider a supported Fire TV or Apple TV device, or AirPlay if you have a compatible Apple device and receiver.
- The TV will not download the app: Check that the relevant LG or Samsung account is linked to the television and that the TV is connected to the internet.
- The activation code does not work: Use the code currently displayed on the TV and follow the prompts on the authorization page from a second device. If the TV has returned to a different screen or generated another code, use the current on-screen instructions.
- You can sign in but cannot find a program: Check whether it is included with your Xfinity service and available for your location and network. For Fire TV, confirm whether you are in the home network if you need the full lineup or On Demand library.
