On a supported AMD Ryzen system, the USB-related driver is usually included in the product-specific AMD chipset-driver package—not offered as a universal, standalone download. Identify your PC or motherboard, then use AMD’s matching Windows 11 driver page or its Auto-Detect and Install tool to find the package for your hardware.
What “AMD USB driver” means
The phrase can refer to a USB-related component within an AMD chipset-driver bundle. The bundle contains separate platform drivers, and its contents and Windows compatibility vary by product and package version. For example, AMD’s release notes list an “AMD USB Filter Driver” in some package contexts, while other release tables mark that component as not applicable for a Windows version. Check the notes for your exact package rather than looking for one universal USB download: AMD Ryzen Chipset Driver Release Notes 6.05.28.016 and Release Notes 7.11.26.2142.
Chipset drivers are also different from Radeon graphics drivers. AMD’s support pages cover both, and Auto-Detect may offer either or both depending on your computer. Choose the package that matches your hardware and need; a graphics driver is not a substitute for the chipset package.
Choose how to find the right package

Before choosing either route, note the PC or motherboard model and your Windows edition/version. If you use a prebuilt desktop or laptop, its manufacturer may also provide model-specific support information; do not select a package for a different platform simply because its name looks similar.

Install the Windows 11 chipset package
- Identify the platform. Check the computer’s model or the motherboard and AMD processor/chipset. If you are unsure, use the computer or motherboard maker’s model identification and support information.
- Open AMD Drivers and Support. Browse to the matching product page, or use AMD Auto-Detect if your system and Windows version are supported.
- Select Windows 11. Download the chipset package AMD lists for the identified product and operating system. AMD recommends updating Windows before installing drivers.
- If using Auto-Detect, run its workflow. Download and run the tool, install or unpack its setup files, then allow AMD Software Installer to check compatibility. Review the available drivers and install choices before proceeding. Screen text and choices can differ by system.
- Run the chipset installer. Follow the prompts in the package for your product. Check its completion message and restart if the installer requests it; do not assume a particular component checkbox or restart prompt will appear on every system.
AMD’s mobile chipset page illustrates why it is important to use the matching product page: as listed on October 5, 2026, its Windows 11 64-bit Ryzen and Athlon Mobile package was revision 8.08.12.551, 79 MB, released August 14, 2026. Those details apply to that mobile package only, not to every AMD chipset or computer. Check the live listing for your own product: AMD Ryzen and Athlon Mobile Chipset Drivers and Downloads.
If installation does not fix the USB problem
A successful chipset-driver installation does not prove that a USB fault was caused by missing chipset software. If the problem remains, treat the port, cable, peripheral, firmware settings, and Windows itself as separate possible causes. The steps for diagnosing those issues depend on the computer and symptom; consult the PC or motherboard maker’s support information or AMD support rather than applying generic registry edits, BIOS changes, or manual driver replacements.

Also read the release notes before changing driver versions. AMD’s 7.11.26.2142 release notes say Windows 11 25H2 support was added. They also document a downgrade restriction for that installer series: installing a 7.xx.xx.xx chipset installer prevents installation of 6.xx.xx.xx or earlier until the newer installer is uninstalled and the named dependency folder is deleted. This caveat is specific to the documented series; do not use the workaround casually or apply it to other packages without checking their notes: AMD release notes.
