On most recent Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip phones, open Settings > Software update > Download and install, then follow the prompts if an update is available. Menu wording can vary by model, software version, and carrier, and the phone may restart during installation.
Check for and install an update on your phone

Tap Software update. On some devices or software versions, the menu may be called System updates.

Tap Download and install. If prompted, tap Check for updates, Check for software updates, or Check for system updates.

If an update is offered, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it. The phone may restart as part of the process. Samsung’s update instructions describe this general process.

Confirm which software is installed
After the update, open Settings > About phone > Software information. The screen can show your One UI version, Android version, and build number. Note your exact model and build if you need to check whether a particular release applies to your phone. Samsung’s version-check guidance explains where to find these details.
If no update is offered
A message such as “software is up to date” means that no update is currently being offered to that phone through its check; it does not establish that every Fold or Flip has received the same security patch. Samsung says eligibility and timing can vary by model, country or region, and network operator, and schedules may change or be paused. Check the exact model and build on the phone, consult Samsung’s One UI software update schedule and Samsung Members release information, then check again later if you expect an update. There is no single current patch date that applies to every Fold and Flip model.

Try Smart Switch as an alternative
Samsung says Smart Switch for PC or Mac may offer a phone software update when a newer version is available. Connect the phone to a computer running Smart Switch and check whether the program presents an update option; this route is optional, and Samsung does not establish that the option appears for every model, region, or connection setup. Samsung’s Smart Switch guidance describes the alternative.
Automatic updates on the Galaxy Z Fold6
The user manual for the Galaxy Z Fold6 model SM-F956B documents an Auto download over Wi-Fi setting and a Last update item in the Software update menu. It also says that emergency software updates released to protect that device and block new types of security threats may install automatically. These details are specific to the cited Z Fold6 manual and should not be assumed to describe every Z Fold or Z Flip generation. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 user manual.

Phone update and security patch: what the screen tells you
Samsung’s update menu is the way to check for available device software, including security-related updates. The phone’s result is specific to its model, region, carrier, and installed build; it does not guarantee a simultaneous release across all Fold and Flip devices.
