Turn on Web Inspector in iPhone settings, connect the phone to the Mac, enable Safari’s developer features, then select the open page from the Mac’s Develop menu. Inspect an iPhone webpage with Safari Web Inspector on a Mac
Apple’s documented workflow opens the iPhone’s live Safari webpage in Web Inspector on macOS. Apple states that “Web content on iOS and iPadOS is inspectable when you connect the device to your Mac.” The initial setup uses a cable.
- Enable Web Inspector on your iPhone. Open Settings > Apps > Safari > Advanced and turn on Web Inspector. This is Apple’s current documented Settings path; labels can change between iOS releases. Apple’s iOS and iPadOS inspection guide covers this setting.
- Connect the iPhone to the Mac. Use a data-capable cable. If the iPhone asks whether to trust the computer, tap Trust and follow the prompts. The necessary cable depends on the ports on your particular iPhone and Mac; you may already have a suitable one.
- Enable developer features in Mac Safari. Open Safari and choose Safari > Settings > Advanced, then enable Show features for web developers. This reveals the Develop menu and developer tools. See Apple’s instructions for enabling Safari developer features.
- Open the page on the iPhone. In Safari on the iPhone, load the webpage you want to inspect.
- Select the iPhone page on the Mac. In Mac Safari, choose Develop, find the connected iPhone, then choose the webpage listed beneath it. Safari opens a Web Inspector window for that page. You can also inspect a page from the Mac Safari Develop menu or its Inspect Element context-menu option; see Apple’s guide to inspecting Safari on macOS.
The page remains open on the iPhone while you use the Mac’s inspector to examine it. This is the right route when you need interactive developer inspection rather than just a value or list extracted from the page.
Can you inspect an iPhone webpage wirelessly?
Yes, after the initial connection. Apple documents enabling Web Inspector and first connecting the iPhone to the Mac with a cable; after that, choose Develop > [your iPhone] > Connect via Network in Mac Safari, or connect using Xcode. This is a later wireless option, not a cable-free first-time setup. Apple’s setup instructions describe the network connection option.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
What if you only have an iPhone?
Apple Shortcuts offers a limited way to work with elements on the active Safari webpage. The Run JavaScript on Webpage action can receive a Safari webpage from the share sheet; your script can use selectors such as document.querySelectorAll("img") to retrieve matching elements. This can help collect or modify selected page content, but it does not provide the full interactive visual inspection experience of Web Inspector on a Mac.
To try it, create a shortcut that accepts a Safari webpage as input, add the Run JavaScript on Webpage action, write JavaScript for the content you want to query, and run the shortcut from Safari’s share sheet. Your script must call its completion handler to return results, and the action has an execution time limit. Apple explains the action and its constraints in Intro to the Run JavaScript on Webpage action in Shortcuts.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Which route should you choose?
| Route | Mac needed? | Best for | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Safari Web Inspector | Yes for a physical iPhone; a Mac simulator is another target | Interactive developer inspection of a live page | Initial device setup requires Web Inspector enabled and a cable connection |
| Shortcuts JavaScript action | No | Querying, retrieving, or modifying selected page content | Requires a shortcut and is subject to execution limits; it is not a full visual inspector |
Choose Web Inspector for visual debugging and deeper interaction with the page. Choose Shortcuts when you only need selected page data and do not have access to a Mac.
Use an iOS simulator instead of a physical iPhone
For development tasks that do not depend on real-device behavior, a booted iOS or iPadOS simulator on macOS can appear in Safari’s Develop menu. Apple says Web Inspector is enabled for these simulator targets. A simulator is useful for testing a simulated page, but use a physical iPhone when the real device’s layout or behavior matters. Apple’s inspection guide describes simulator availability.

Troubleshooting: iPhone missing from Safari’s Develop menu
- Web Inspector is unavailable or off: On the iPhone, check Settings > Apps > Safari > Advanced > Web Inspector.
- The iPhone is connected but not listed: Confirm the cable supports data, not only charging, and reconnect it. Accept any Trust This Computer prompt on the iPhone.
- The Develop menu is missing on the Mac: In Safari, open Safari > Settings > Advanced and enable Show features for web developers.
- The device appears but the page does not: Open the target webpage in Safari on the iPhone, then check the device’s submenu in the Mac’s Develop menu again.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need a screenshot rather than interactive DOM inspection, ScreenshotNeo can capture a webpage through one API request. It is a screenshot API and MCP server, not a substitute for inspecting or editing a live page’s DOM. For example, this cURL request saves a screenshot:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.

Can I use Safari on iPhone to inspect elements without a Mac?
Not with Apple’s full interactive Web Inspector. The Shortcuts JavaScript action can query selected content from the active Safari webpage, but it is a constrained alternative.
