What the caller ID choices mean
| Choice | Effect | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Never | Requests that your number be withheld on outgoing calls. | It works only if your carrier and country support suppression; people screening hidden numbers may reject the call. |
| Network default | Leaves caller ID presentation to your mobile network. | The result depends on the carrier’s settings. |
| Always | Sends your caller ID. | Use this to show your number again if the line supports the setting. |
Limits of private caller ID
Carrier and country support
The Galaxy setting requests number suppression; it cannot override your mobile network’s rules. Samsung UK warns that some carriers and countries do not permit hiding your number. If the option is missing or does not take effect, check that the SIM is active and ask your carrier whether suppression is supported on your line and in your region. Samsung also notes that call settings can vary by device, software, and carrier: Samsung UK Support and Samsung UK’s call-settings guidance.
Some people may not receive the call
Recipients can block or screen calls from hidden or unknown numbers. If a private call does not connect, the recipient’s call-screening settings may be the reason. Samsung discusses this limitation in its caller ID support guidance and call-settings troubleshooting guidance.
