To hide an app on a Samsung Galaxy A12, press and hold an empty area of the Home screen, tap Settings, choose Hide Apps, select the app, and tap Done. This removes the app’s icon from the Apps screen; it does not uninstall or lock the app.
Hide an app on your Galaxy A12
- Press and hold an empty area of the Home screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Hide Apps.
- Select the app or apps you want to hide.
- Tap Done to apply the change.
Samsung Australia documents this route but notes its instructions are designed for Australian Galaxy variants. Menu names and availability can differ by model, software version, region, and settings. Unhide an app
Open the same Hide Apps settings screen and remove the app from the hidden list, then tap Done. In Samsung Canada’s documented interface, you deselect the app under Hidden apps with the red minus icon. Samsung says hiding removes an app’s icon from the Apps screen without uninstalling it. It is useful for decluttering, but it is not a privacy lock: Samsung says a hidden app can still appear when someone searches for its name in the Apps screen and can be opened from the result. Samsung Canada

Hiding also differs from disabling. Hiding removes the icon, while disabling affects whether an app operates. Samsung notes that some system apps cannot be hidden or disabled; whether a particular preinstalled app can be disabled depends on the device and software. Samsung Gulf support
If the Hide Apps setting is missing
- Check the Apps screen settings as well as the Home screen settings.
- Confirm your phone’s model number and installed software version in Settings; Galaxy A12 variants do not all share the same regional support record or software history.
- Consult Samsung support for the variant sold in your region. Samsung Australia’s Galaxy A12 SM-A127F listing includes manuals associated with Android 11, 12, and 13, while Samsung’s SM-A125F update history records One UI Core 4.1 (Android 12) and a latest listed update release date of 2024-10-17. For stronger privacy, check Secure Folder availability
Secure Folder is a separate Samsung privacy feature, not another name for hiding an app icon. Samsung’s UK guidance describes the feature but warns that some older Galaxy models may no longer support it. The guidance does not confirm compatibility with every Galaxy A12 variant, so check whether Secure Folder appears in Settings on your particular phone or consult Samsung’s regional support information.
