To grow a 24/7 YouTube stream of Indian classical music, make it rights-safe, distinctive, and easy to discover at any hour. Build a varied, accurately labeled programme; promote individual listening events and performances as well as the continuous stream; then use YouTube Studio’s live analytics to test what works. A nonstop loop alone is neither a growth plan nor a guarantee of monetization.
Start with the music rights
Before scheduling a recording, confirm that you have permission for the specific performance and recording, as well as the underlying composition where applicable. Check that permissions cover livestreaming, the territories you intend to reach, and any archive or highlight use. YouTube says creators need the necessary rights to livestream content worldwide, including music licensing rights (YouTube livestream terms and conditions).
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. Even a licensed track can be interrupted if the relevant rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. If a label, distributor, publisher, or other rights holder controls part of the catalogue, coordinate with them and ask whether your channel must be allowlisted. A licence by itself may not prevent an interruption (YouTube copyright guidance for live streams).

- Do not assume an old composition makes a modern performance or recording free to use. Rights can involve performers, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants.
- Check archive and clip permissions separately from the live-use permission before publishing recordings or highlights on demand.
If a rights match interrupts your stream, pause use of the disputed item, check the relevant YouTube notice, and contact the rights holder or their representative to resolve the issue. Do not assume a claim will pay your channel or that a licence automatically clears a Content ID match.

Give listeners a reason to arrive at any time
Describe the listening experience clearly in the channel description, stream title, and on-screen or accompanying metadata. A listener joining mid-performance should be able to tell whether the stream features live performance or scheduled recordings, and what kind of programme is playing.
Build a programme, not an indistinguishable loop
Possible editorial concepts include a curated morning raga sequence, a featured instrument or gharana, complete performances, or clearly labeled listening blocks. Treat these as ideas to test, not proven audience preferences. No reliable source establishes which ragas, artists, instruments, languages, time zones, or session lengths will attract the largest audience for a particular channel.
Identify performer, instrument, raga, taal, recording date, and language only when you can verify them. Accurate labels help listeners choose what to hear and make the editorial work visible. Vary the substance of the sequence rather than repeating an indistinguishable loop, and explain why the selections belong together.

Make continuous and scheduled programming work together
A continuous stream offers casual access; scheduled events create a specific moment to promote. YouTube for Artists distinguishes consistent, casual streams for a core audience from planned “tentpole” streams tied to a bigger moment. Consider pairing the always-on stream with scheduled sessions around an artist appearance, festival, release, or carefully defined theme (YouTube for Artists: Going Live for Music Channels).
Promote performances as well as the stream
Do not rely on one always-on URL to explain the channel. Promote a specific performance, programme block, or scheduled event with a clear title and a reason to listen. YouTube for Artists suggests posting a Short immediately before a livestream so fans can tap in from the live ring, and recommends chat interaction. A Short can point to a moment or event; it does not replace a clear stream schedule or programme description (YouTube for Artists: Going Live for Music Channels).
- Post a Short shortly before a scheduled event, using a rights-cleared excerpt and an accurate description.
- Tell viewers when a themed session starts and what it contains; avoid promising a performer, raga, or live appearance that is not actually in the programme.
- During scheduled events, use chat to welcome listeners and answer relevant questions without interrupting the music unnecessarily.
- Make past streams available on demand when rights allow, and organize archives and highlights into useful playlists. YouTube recommends public archives, playlists, and eligible public Shorts highlights as ways to extend reach (YouTube: Promote your live stream).
YouTube for Artists reported that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is a platform-wide figure, not evidence of demand for Indian classical music specifically, and it does not predict a particular channel’s growth.

Test the production and plan for archives
Before a high-investment event, test the complete workflow with an unlisted stream. YouTube for Artists specifically recommends this, including checking stream health before the go-live date (YouTube for Artists: Going Live for Music Channels).

- Set up the audio source, streaming software or encoder, connection, and stream key using YouTube’s current live setup instructions.
- Run an unlisted test. Check that the intended audio reaches the stream cleanly, the picture and metadata are correct, and YouTube reports healthy stream status.
- Test the local recording and confirm that it can be retrieved and played back; assign someone to monitor the public stream and respond if it stops.
- For a continuous channel, document who checks the feed and how they will restore it. The cited YouTube guidance does not promise uninterrupted platform or network uptime.
YouTube may automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours, but streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. This is YouTube’s current archive guidance, not a guarantee that every shorter stream will be preserved. Keep a local recording and plan archive production separately from the live feed (YouTube: Archive live streams).
Decide how recordings will be segmented, named, checked for rights, and published. YouTube documents eligibility conditions for Shorts highlights that include a stream duration of 10 minutes to 12 hours and vertical mobile-app format; check its current instructions before relying on that workflow (YouTube: Promote your live stream).

Use analytics to improve one decision at a time
In YouTube Studio, review the live-stream analytics available for your content. Impressions show how often thumbnails were displayed within YouTube; click-through rate helps assess whether the packaging appeals to people who saw it; average view duration and traffic sources help diagnose viewing and discovery. Search terms can reveal wording viewers already use (YouTube: Content tab analytics tips for Live).
- Compare live streams with similar live streams, rather than treating a single view count as a verdict.
- Look for patterns in impressions, click-through rate, average view duration, traffic sources, and search terms.
- Change one meaningful element at a time—such as title wording, thumbnail treatment, a schedule block, or a featured performer—and compare results over a similar period.
- Keep the change if the relevant measures improve consistently; if not, test a different explanation.
These metrics are diagnostic tools, not guaranteed ranking levers. YouTube does not establish a best-performing raga, daypart, or session length for this specific genre; let your own channel data and controlled programming trials guide those choices.
Keep monetization and format expectations realistic
YouTube’s policy calls repetitive or mass-produced material “inauthentic content” and says it is ineligible for monetization. The policy allows recurring formats when the substance is materially varied and brings creative, educational, or other value. A continuous format is not automatically disqualified, but a bare, repetitive loop may not show that distinction. YouTube’s July 15, 2025 policy note says the name changed from “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” to clarify the existing policy (YouTube channel monetization policies).

YouTube for Artists lists shopping features, Supers, and ads as possible livestream monetization features. Availability and revenue depend on channel status and other platform conditions; none is assured simply by streaming continuously (YouTube for Artists: Going Live for Music Channels).
Choose a production setup that fits the channel
A phone or webcam may suit a simple live performance. An encoder can provide more customization and control when the production needs it, but YouTube’s guidance does not say that an encoder itself improves audience growth. There is no validated bitrate, encoder model, redundancy design, staffing schedule, or network and power specification established here for reliable 24/7 service in a particular Indian location. Test your actual setup under its operating conditions.
