You can gift an eligible Fortnite skin or bundle to a friend only if it is currently offered in the in-game Item Shop. Before you send it, enable 2FA, reach level 2, and make sure the recipient has been on your Friends list for at least two days. Fortnite does not let you gift V-Bucks directly.
Before you try to send a gift
- Enable 2FA: Epic requires two-factor authentication on the sender’s account.
- Reach level 2: The sender must be level 2 or higher.
- Wait two days: The recipient must have been your friend for at least two days.
- Check the recipient’s account: Epic lists a negative V-Bucks balance as a reason a player cannot receive a gift.
- Check the item: It must be an eligible offer currently available in the in-game Item Shop.
Epic’s support page also sets a limit of five gifts per 24-hour period. Each limit resets based on when you sent the gifts. Gifts are non-refundable. Epic’s support pages do not show a publication or revision date for these rules, so check the current requirements in Epic Games Support if anything has changed.

How to gift a skin or bundle in Fortnite
- Open Fortnite and go to the in-game Item Shop. Gifts cannot be sent through the Web Item Shop.
- Select an eligible skin or bundle that is currently offered, then choose GIFT.
- Select or search for your friend using their Epic Games display name. Epic recommends searching by that name to help avoid choosing the wrong person.
- Review the recipient-specific price shown in the gifting window, along with the item and recipient.
- Confirm the purchase. The recipient must log in to receive the gift.
Gifting is supported on Android, PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox. Epic recommends using the recipient’s Epic display name rather than relying on a console gamertag. See Epic Games Support’s gifting requirements and its guidance on gifting through the Web Item Shop.
Which Fortnite items can you gift?
The offer has to be in the in-game Item Shop, and not every offer there is giftable. Epic excludes V-Bucks, Battle Pass levels, items that are not currently in the shop, certain real-money offers, Battle Pass Level bundles, Fortnite Crew, and Event Passes. Dynamically priced bundles may also be unavailable as a gift when the recipient already owns one or more components that cannot be gifted.

- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
A bundle’s price for your own account may differ from the price to gift it because account ownership can affect the displayed bundle price. Check the amount shown in the gifting window for that recipient before confirming. Epic explains bundle pricing in its Item Shop bundle pricing support article.
Can you gift V-Bucks instead?
No. Fortnite does not provide a way to transfer V-Bucks directly to another player. Epic’s stated option is to buy a physical V-Bucks card from a participating retailer and give it to the recipient to redeem on their Epic account. That gives them redeemable V-Bucks to spend; it does not send a particular skin or bundle. See Epic Games Support’s V-Bucks gifting guidance.

When a Fortnite gift card may be an alternative
Epic also documents Fortnite Gift Cards that can be redeemed to add funds to an Epic account balance. Those funds can be spent on eligible purchases in the Epic Games Store or Fortnite on mobile or PC. This is stored value, not a direct gift of a selected skin.

Platform terms matter: Epic says V-Bucks purchased with Epic account balance are available on other platforms except Nintendo, which does not support Fortnite Shared Wallet. Epic also says items bought with those V-Bucks appear in the Locker across connected platforms. Check the card’s region and current redemption terms, and make sure it suits the recipient’s platform, using Epic’s Fortnite Gift Card redemption instructions.
Rank #3
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

If the gift option is missing or the purchase cannot proceed
- The offer is not giftable or is no longer available: Check whether it is currently listed in the in-game Item Shop; the Web Item Shop cannot send gifts.
- You do not meet the sender requirements: Verify that 2FA is enabled, your account is level 2 or higher, and you have not exceeded the five-gift limit for the applicable 24-hour period.
- You recently added the recipient: Wait until you have been friends for at least two days.
- The recipient owns part of a bundle: Ownership can affect whether a dynamically priced bundle is giftable. Review the recipient-specific offer and price in the gifting flow.
- The recipient may be ineligible: Epic lists a negative V-Bucks balance as a restriction on receiving gifts.
- You are unsure who is selected: Search for the recipient’s Epic Games display name and recheck it before confirming.
If the exact cosmetic cannot be gifted, a V-Bucks card or eligible Fortnite Gift Card may let the recipient choose another purchase, subject to the card’s region, redemption terms, and platform limitations.
