For the best fit and noise cancellation from Pixel Buds Pro 2, start with the eartips: try sizes separately for each ear, run the Eartip Seal Check, then insert each bud with its L/R marking upright and gently twist the stabilizer counter-clockwise until it feels secure and comfortable. Once the seal is right, choose Noise Cancellation, Transparency, Adaptive, or Off for the situation.
How to get the best fit and seal
- Try eartip sizes independently. Pixel Buds Pro 2 include extra-small, small, medium, and large tips; medium is attached by default. Your ears may need different sizes. Google’s fit guidance recommends adjusting the tips for a secure fit.
- Check the seal. In the Pixel Buds settings, run Eartip Seal Check. Google says it helps assess seal quality and get the best possible sound. If the result suggests a poor seal, try another size and check again. See Google’s Eartip Seal Check instructions.
- Insert and stabilize each bud. With the L/R marking upright, place the earbud gently in your ear, then twist the stabilizer counter-clockwise until it is secure without discomfort. Google’s quick-start fit guidance notes that each ear may need a different eartip size.
Google’s general Pixel Buds fit guidance says, “A tight seal improves sound, noise cancellation, and mic performance.” That statement appears in the Pixel Buds Pro section of the page, so it is general fit advice rather than a Pro 2-specific independent test result. Google also describes Silent Seal 2.0 on Pixel Buds Pro 2 as providing “twice the noise cancellation” compared with Pixel Buds Pro; the support page does not give a test method or measured attenuation figure, so treat this as Google’s product comparison, not a guaranteed result for every wearer.
Which noise-control mode should you use?
Pixel Buds Pro 2 offer four modes. Their effects depend on your fit, surroundings, and preferences; no mode guarantees a particular result for every wearer.

| Mode | What it does | When it may suit you |
|---|---|---|
| Noise Cancellation | Blocks outside noise. | When you want to reduce surrounding sound. |
| Transparency | Lets sound in so you can hear your surroundings. | When you want to remain aware of nearby sounds. |
| Adaptive | Maintains environmental awareness while reducing loud unwanted noises. This mode is specific to Pixel Buds Pro 2. | When you want some awareness without leaving loud unwanted sounds entirely unaddressed. |
| Off | Disables the other noise-control modes. | When you do not want noise control enabled. |
These descriptions follow Google’s Active Noise Control instructions. Google also says Dynamic ANC adapts noise cancellation when the earbuds are not locked into the ears with a perfect seal. It does not quantify how much this can compensate for an individual fit, so use it as an adaptation feature—not a replacement for adjusting the tips and seal.

Troubleshoot poor sound or call quality
- Sound seems weak or noise cancellation underwhelms: Recheck the eartip size and run Eartip Seal Check again. A secure, comfortable seal is the wearer-adjustable starting point.
- Calls are difficult in a noisy environment: If Transparency interferes, try a different ANC mode, as Google recommends in its troubleshooting guidance.
- Audio or calls remain inconsistent: Keep the eartips clean and make sure your ear canals are dry. Google includes both checks in its Pixel Buds troubleshooting advice.
