Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo get Reddit updates without a separate feed-reader app, join the communities you want to follow and check Reddit’s Home feed. For a more recent-first view on the mobile app, use Latest; to focus on one subreddit, open it and sort posts by New. These are feeds you check yourself—not guaranteed alerts whenever a community publishes a post.
Choose the kind of Reddit updates you want
| Option | Where | Best for | How updates arrive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home | Reddit.com and mobile | Posts from communities you have joined | Manual check; personalized feed |
| Latest | Reddit mobile app | Recent posts from subscribed communities | Manual check; organized by New |
| Community page sorted by New | Reddit.com or mobile | Recent posts from one subreddit | Manual check; focused on that community |
Reddit’s Help pages describe Home as a feed of joined communities and Latest as subscription content organized by New. Latest is documented as a mobile-app option. Reddit Help: Home and other feeds
Use Home to check all your joined communities
- Sign in to Reddit on the website or in the app.
- Join each community whose posts you want included in your subscription feed.
- Open Home when you want to catch up.
Home is convenient for a broad check-in, but it is not a strict chronological timeline. Reddit says it can include recommendations from communities you have not joined, and subscription posts may be shown in a personalized order. Reddit Help: Content recommendations
Use Latest on the mobile app for a recent-first subscription feed
If you use Reddit’s mobile app and want joined-community posts organized by recency, open Latest. Reddit describes this feed as subscription content organized by New. The Help page documents Latest for mobile; it does not establish it as a website feed. Reddit Help: Home and other feeds

Reddit’s app includes a community drawer for navigating joined communities, followed redditors, and custom feeds. Its exact placement and controls can vary between app versions and interface experiments, so look for the community-navigation area rather than relying on a universal tap sequence. Check one subreddit directly and sort by New
- Open the subreddit you want to check.
- Open its post-sorting controls.
- Select New to see recent posts first.
Reddit says community pages use Hot by default and offer sorting options. You can change the default sort or have a community remember your last sort. Going directly to the community and choosing New is the clearest built-in way to inspect its recent posts without relying on Home’s personalized ordering. Reddit Help: Content recommendations

Following may not be available on your account
Reddit’s September 10, 2026 changelog described a split between For You and Following as an experiment for a small subset of global users on all platforms, beginning September 2, 2026. It may not appear for everyone, so Home and Latest are the more dependable choices described in Reddit’s Help guidance. Reddit Help: September 10, 2026 changelog
A feed is not the same as a push alert
Home, Latest, and a subreddit’s New sort are places to check for posts; the cited Reddit documentation does not establish that ordinary members can receive alerts for every new post in any community. Reddit’s notification guidance covers chat messages and chat requests, including site and email controls, which are separate from new-post alerts. Reddit Help: Chat notifications

If by “Reddit updates” you mean announcements about Reddit itself, Reddit identifies r/reddit as an admin-run community for platform updates, announcements, and news. It is not a general alert mechanism for posts in other communities. Reddit Help: Helpful communities
