From Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), take the Capital Airport Express for a predictable rail connection, an airport bus if a current route serves your destination, or a taxi or ride-hailing car for door-to-door travel. The best choice depends on where you are staying and when you land. This guide covers PEK only; Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) is a different airport with different routes.
Choose transport based on your actual destination
“City center” is not a single stop. Check the distance from your hotel or destination to the transport option’s stop, including any subway transfer or walk with luggage. Beijing’s official guidance lists online car-hailing, airport buses and the Airport Express among the ways to travel between PEK and the city. Beijing’s PEK transport guide provides airport information.
| Option | What to consider | Most useful when |
|---|---|---|
| Capital Airport Express | Fixed CNY 25 fare, followed by a separate fare for any onward subway journey; service hours and transfer distance matter. | You want a rail connection and your destination is convenient to a station or subway line. |
| Airport bus | Routes serve particular destinations; stops, schedules, fares and ticket arrangements can change. | A currently operating route stops near your destination. |
| Taxi | Door-to-door travel, with journey time affected by traffic; fare depends on the trip and current conditions. | You prefer a direct car trip and are prepared for traffic and the taxi queue. |
| Online car-hailing | Door-to-door travel, subject to traffic, app access and finding the designated pickup zone. | You can use a ride-hailing app and want to meet a booked car at the airport’s pickup area. |
Take the Capital Airport Express
The Capital Airport Express costs CNY 25 per ride, according to the fare information published by Beijing Subway Co., Ltd. on the Beijing Municipal Government website on April 23, 2025. This is separate from the regular fare for onward Beijing rail transit. The city guide lists connections at Sanyuanqiao (Line 10), Dongzhimen (Lines 2 and 13) and Beixinqiao (Line 5). Check which transfer station works for your destination.

Use an airport bus when its current route fits
Airport buses run to specific city destinations, so first check whether a current route stops near your hotel or the place you need to reach. Route names, stops, schedules and fares are not interchangeable across lines. Beijing’s March 30, 2026 update reports that multiple route changes took effect April 7, 2026. Check the latest official route information rather than relying on an older route description.
The update points passengers to the “Airport Bus Official Platform” mini-program or on-site counters for tickets. Beijing’s PEK guide also says bus and Airport Express tickets can be purchased with valid ID at self-service machines at the Beijing Service airport counter. Confirm the current ticketing instructions and departure point for your route at the airport. Read the route-change update and consult the PEK transport guide.

Take a taxi or online car-hailing car
A car avoids subway transfers and can take you directly to your address, but traffic affects travel time. Visit Beijing warns that congestion can occur during rush hours; its older guidance does not establish a dependable current fare or arrival time for every destination. Check the fare or quote for your specific trip rather than assuming a universal price or duration. Visit Beijing’s airport transportation page discusses traffic conditions.
