To get a Thai IP address, connect to a VPN server in Thailand—often listed as Thailand or Bangkok—in the VPN provider’s app. While connected, covered internet traffic is routed through that server, so websites see a public IP associated with Thailand. A Thai IP does not guarantee that a particular website, bank, or streaming service will accept the connection.
Connect to a Thailand VPN server on a phone, tablet, or computer
- Choose a VPN with a current Thailand location. Server locations can change, so check the provider’s current app or server list before subscribing. Proton VPN, ExpressVPN, and AstrillVPN each document a Thailand or Bangkok location; these are examples, not a ranking.
- Install the official app for your device and sign in. Review the provider’s privacy policy and connection features, and confirm the app supports your operating system.
- Select Thailand or Bangkok, then connect. Proton VPN says to choose Thailand in its app or use Quick Connect next to Thailand. ExpressVPN instructs users to select its Thailand server location and connect. See Proton VPN’s Thailand server instructions and ExpressVPN’s Thailand VPN instructions.
- Check the displayed public IP location if it matters. Use a reputable IP-checking service. If it does not show Thailand, reconnect or ask your VPN provider for help. An IP-location check is a practical verification step, not a guarantee that a website will treat your connection as being in Thailand.
Check device compatibility
Proton VPN lists apps for Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, Android, iPhone, and Android TV. ExpressVPN lists Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS apps, as well as support for many major smart TVs. These platform lists may change; confirm support for your specific device and operating-system version with the provider.
Route multiple devices through a VPN using a router
A router with VPN client support can connect to a remote VPN server and route network devices through that connection. This can be useful when a device cannot run the VPN app directly, but support and setup depend on the router model and the VPN service.
Do not confuse VPN client mode with VPN server mode. A router acting as a VPN server lets a remote device connect back to your home network; a router acting as a client connects to a third-party VPN server. The client scenario is the one needed to route your devices through a Thailand VPN server. TP-Link’s router VPN setup guidance, updated May 7, 2026, distinguishes these uses and describes client setup for supported models. Check the exact router’s documentation and the VPN provider’s configuration instructions before buying or configuring equipment.

Choose a provider based on more than its Thailand location
Compare the current Thailand server list, supported apps, privacy policy, independent security documentation, protocol options, customer support, simultaneous-device limit, and refund terms. Provider speed or streaming statements are marketing claims unless independently tested; the cited pages do not establish which provider is fastest or best.
For location examples, Proton VPN documents Thailand servers, ExpressVPN documents a Thailand location and identifies Bangkok among its locations, and AstrillVPN says it offers a Bangkok location. What a Thai IP address does—and does not—change
A VPN changes the network route and the public IP presented to services for covered traffic, and encrypts traffic between your device and the VPN server. It does not make your device invulnerable, erase account-based location signals, or require a service to grant access. Websites and platforms can apply account, location, or VPN-blocking checks, so a Thai IP alone does not guarantee access to a bank, website, or streaming catalog.
Use VPN services lawfully and follow the rules that apply to you and the services you use. ExpressVPN advises responsible use in compliance with local law. AstrillVPN notes that some URLs are blocked in Thailand through legal processes and cautions that changing a route does not guarantee access.
