To get a Slovenian public IP address while you are elsewhere, connect to a VPN server in Slovenia, then check your public IP and reported country. Install the provider’s app, sign in, select Slovenia, and connect. The location must be available on your plan, and a Slovenian IP does not guarantee that a website or service will accept your connection.
Connect to a Slovenian VPN server
- Choose a VPN provider with an active Slovenia location. The provider pages reviewed list Slovenia for Proton VPN, Private Internet Access (PIA), and Windscribe. These are provider statements, not independent performance tests. Check the provider’s current location list before subscribing.
- Confirm the plan includes Slovenia. Proton VPN’s Slovenia page says Slovenian servers require a paid plan; availability of free locations varies by provider. Check the applicable plan and terms before paying.
- Install the app and sign in. Proton lists apps for Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, Android, iPhone, and Android TV. PIA provides mobile setup instructions for iOS and Android. Use the app for the device whose traffic you want to route through Slovenia.
- Select Slovenia and connect. Find Slovenia in the app’s location list and start the connection. PIA identifies its Slovenia IP location as Ljubljana, and Windscribe also lists a Ljubljana server.
- Verify the result. Visit an IP-check page and confirm that the public IP and reported country show Slovenia. If they do not, reconnect or try another Slovenia endpoint if the provider offers one.
What a Slovenian IP address changes—and what it does not
A VPN routes network traffic through a server operated by the VPN provider. When you select Slovenia, the destination website sees the VPN server’s public IP rather than your usual public IP. PIA describes its VPN as changing the IP to one from the chosen server’s location and encrypting traffic between your device and the VPN service.
This changes the apparent network location; it does not establish that you are physically in Slovenia, change your account’s eligibility, or guarantee access to a particular streaming catalog, bank, government portal, or workplace system. A service can consider other signals, including your account, browser or device information, and its own access rules. PIA’s support guidance advises users to comply with the streaming platform’s and PIA’s terms, and to connect to a server in the country where they are currently located: PIA streaming guidance, dated July 16, 2026. That is PIA’s guidance, not a universal statement of every service’s policy.

Websites may still recognize you through sign-in, cookies, browser or device signals, or other information. A browser proxy may change the IP a site sees in that browser, but it is not the same as routing all device traffic through a VPN; PIA cautions that proxies may provide weaker encryption and cover only browser traffic.

Compare Slovenia VPN options before choosing

Compare providers on the details that affect your use: Slovenia availability, app support for your device, privacy policy and credible independent audits, plan and renewal terms, refund conditions, and shared versus dedicated IP availability. The cited pages do not establish which provider is fastest or most reliable; no comparative speed, leak, streaming, or reliability results are available here.
Troubleshoot if a website still detects a foreign location
- Check the IP result first. If the IP-check page does not report Slovenia, reconnect or select another Slovenia endpoint if one is offered.
- Review browser location permissions. A site may use browser location access separately from your public IP. Check the browser’s location permission for that site.
- Check account and site rules. Account region, cookies, and the service’s own eligibility or access policies can affect what you can see or do. A Slovenian IP does not override those rules.
- Check the provider’s current status and terms. Server locations and plan access can change, and a service may block a VPN exit IP.
Free access, legality, and practical limits
Free access is provider-specific. Proton VPN says its Slovenia servers are not available on its Free plan, even though its page lists free locations in other countries. Verify current terms directly with any provider rather than assuming that a free tier includes Slovenia.
