To get a Polish-looking public IP address while abroad, connect to a VPN server located in Poland. Install a VPN app, choose Poland in its location list, connect, then check your public IP with an IP-location checker. This changes the apparent network location for traffic routed through the VPN; it does not change your account country or guarantee that a particular service will accept the connection.
Connect to a VPN server in Poland
A VPN routes covered internet traffic through a server operated by the VPN provider. Websites generally see that server’s public IP address instead of the address assigned by your current network. Choose a provider that lists a Polish server location, then use its app to connect.
- Check the provider’s current site for a Poland server location, supported devices, and plan terms. Availability can change.
- Install the provider’s app on the device you want to use and sign in.
- Open the app’s location list or map, select Poland (or a Polish city if offered), and connect.
- Visit an IP-location checker and confirm that it reports a Polish location. If it does not, reconnect or ask the VPN provider for help.
For example, Proton VPN says its app supports Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, Android, iPhone, and Android TV, and describes connecting to Poland in three steps. Those are provider-stated details, so check its current page for availability: Proton VPN’s Poland server page. ExpressVPN and NordVPN also describe selecting Poland in their apps: ExpressVPN’s Poland VPN page and NordVPN’s Poland server page.
What a Polish IP address does—and does not—change
A VPN can make traffic routed through its tunnel appear to come from a Polish VPN server. It does not change your identity, account country, billing address, GPS location, or a website’s access rules. Banks, streaming platforms, and public services may use additional checks, request verification, or block VPN IP ranges. A Polish IP address therefore does not guarantee access.

VPN providers describe their services as ways to access location-specific content, but those are provider claims, not independent guarantees. For example, PIA’s Polish-language page names services including player.pl, vod.pl, Polsat Go, and Netflix Polska; availability and access can change, and the page does not establish that a particular account or connection will work: PIA’s Poland VPN page.
VPN, browser proxy, or Polish ISP connection?
| Option | What it routes or represents | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| VPN server in Poland | Traffic routed through the VPN appears to come from the provider’s Polish server. | Can cover apps beyond the browser, depending on the app and configuration. It does not make the connection a Polish residential or mobile-carrier connection. |
| Browser proxy | Browser traffic routed through the proxy may appear to come from its server. | PIA says its proxy works only in the browser; it is not equivalent to routing other device apps through a VPN. This is a provider description, not an independent security comparison. |
| Polish ISP connection | A device connected through an ISP network in Poland can receive a Polish IP naturally. | This is a different network arrangement from using a VPN server. The available sources do not establish buying Polish residential ISP service from abroad as a practical general solution. |
Choose a VPN for your intended use
Before subscribing, check the provider’s current Polish location availability, device support, privacy policy, connection protocols, and compatibility with the service you intend to use. Server counts and advertised speeds are provider marketing claims; the sources available here do not provide a comparable independent test set to support a performance ranking.

A VPN-compatible router is an optional way to route multiple supported devices through a VPN. It is not needed for the basic app setup. Confirm that the router, firmware, and configuration are compatible with the provider before buying or changing settings. ExpressVPN lists router support among its device categories, but compatibility depends on the specific equipment and setup.

A 2024 secondary overview of Polish telecom law says ordinary consumer VPN use is not explicitly forbidden by Polish law, while conduct carried out through a VPN remains subject to the law. This is an older, secondary summary, not current legal advice: Prawo.pl’s 2024 overview. Check current law if legality is central to your situation. Separately, review the terms of the streaming, financial, or other service you plan to use; whether a VPN connection is permitted depends on that service’s rules.
