You can’t choose or guarantee that YouTube will place your 24/7 livestream next to a particular channel. Suggested videos and “Up next” are personalized for each viewer, with the video they’re watching and their viewing history shaping what appears. Your best chance is to make the stream genuinely relevant to the same audience, package it accurately, and use Analytics to learn whether viewers choose it and keep watching.
What you can—and can’t—control
Suggested placement is a viewer-specific recommendation, not a slot a creator can reserve. YouTube’s Up next guidance describes recommendations in the context of what a viewer is watching, alongside signals such as their viewing history. A stream about a subject related to the current video may be relevant, but similarity does not guarantee that it will appear beside that video.
YouTube says recommendations are driven by what viewers watch and enjoy. Whether someone chooses or ignores a recommendation, and how they respond after choosing it, informs the system. You control the stream and how clearly it serves an audience; you do not control the recommendation outcome.

Improve the stream’s fit for the audience you want to reach
Choose a clear subject and format
Make the stream recognizable to the people who already watch related content. A focused subject, consistent format, and clear reason to keep watching give viewers a better basis for deciding whether it suits them. Use YouTube Analytics to see which channels and content your audience also watches and which formats they use. Treat those reports as clues for framing your stream—not as a list of channels where YouTube will place it.

Use an accurate title and thumbnail
Tell viewers what is live and what they can expect. Keep the title concise and make the thumbnail consistent with the actual stream. Avoid implying that a person, event, or activity is live if the stream is looping prerecorded video. Misleading packaging may attract an initial click but does not create a good match for viewers.
YouTube recommends monitoring click-through performance from Home and Suggested in Analytics. For general audiences, it suggests looking at the first 24 hours as one useful window. That is a way to assess packaging and performance, not a required threshold or a promise of reach.

Use audience activity data thoughtfully
Audience reports can show when your viewers are active. If you are starting a stream, that can help you choose a start time that may support initial engagement. YouTube distinguishes this from long-term performance: its guidance does not establish that upload timing affects how a video performs over time.

- Check traffic sources. In YouTube Analytics, review traffic from Suggested videos and Browse features such as Home rather than treating total views as proof of recommendation success.
- Look for comparable context. Compare streams or videos with a similar subject and format, and account for differences in audience and viewing period. Raw view counts alone do not show whether one was a better recommendation match.
- Review viewer response. Consider whether viewers who choose the stream continue watching, alongside click-through performance. Use the pattern to refine the stream’s subject, format, title, or thumbnail.
- Make one meaningful adjustment at a time. A clearer title or more focused format can help you understand audience response. No single adjustment forces YouTube to recommend the stream.
Does staying live 24/7 improve Suggested placement?
There is no basis in YouTube’s published guidance for treating continuous availability as a ranking hack. YouTube says it does not favor a particular video format, and experimenting with formats does not inherently confuse the recommendation system. A 24/7 schedule may make the stream available whenever viewers arrive, but that alone does not promise more Suggested placements.

If you want to keep a prerecorded YouTube stream running continuously, you can run it yourself with an encoder and a computer or other suitable setup, or use a cloud service. Check YouTube’s live-stream eligibility and choose a method
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to livestream. Its live-streaming guidance lists mobile, webcam, and encoder methods. Webcam streaming uses a computer with a webcam; an encoder is the method to consider for a production workflow that uses streaming software or hardware. These are general eligibility and method details, not a stated specification for operating continuously 24/7.
