Apple’s three-month Apple Music offer is not the standard trial for every new subscriber: Apple’s U.S. page lists one month for ordinary new subscribers and three months for new subscribers with an eligible audio device. To claim the longer offer, pair the qualifying device with a current iPhone or iPad and redeem it in Apple Music within the time window shown for your country.
Who can get three months of Apple Music free?
Apple’s U.S. Apple Music page distinguishes its standard one-month new-subscriber trial from a three-month offer for new subscribers with an eligible device. The device promotion is conditional: not every new subscriber qualifies, and not every Apple or Beats product is eligible. Eligibility can vary by country and device. For example, Apple’s Malaysia promotion terms list AirPods 4 as an eligible product, but that is a Malaysia-specific example—not a universal list. Confirm the exact model and offer locally before buying anything. Apple Malaysia promotion terms
How to redeem the device offer
- Check the offer in your country. Open Apple Music and look for the trial available to your Apple Account. Read the displayed terms, including the eligible-device list, claim deadline and renewal price.
- Pair the eligible audio device. Apple’s U.S. instructions say to pair it with an iPhone or iPad running the latest iOS or iPadOS.
- Activate the offer in Apple Music. Sign in with the Apple Account you intend to use and follow the offer prompt. Pairing a device alone does not necessarily activate the subscription.
- Redeem before the deadline. Apple’s U.S. page says the offer can be redeemed within three months after the eligible device’s first activation. Malaysia’s terms describe a 90-day claim window after first setup or, for listed audio devices, first pairing. Follow the deadline shown in your local offer.
What happens when the free period ends?
The trial may convert to a paid, recurring subscription unless you cancel. The U.S. offer FAQ cited here does not specify a separate post-trial charge for the device promotion, so check the price displayed when you claim it rather than assuming a standard plan price applies.

Apple’s Malaysia terms provide a country-specific example: the Individual subscription renews automatically at RM 16.90 per month after the three-month period. Those terms also say to cancel at least one day before renewal to avoid the next charge; cancelling during the free period ends access immediately and forfeits the remaining trial. Cancel or manage the subscription on iPhone
In the Music app, open the account or profile control, tap Manage Subscription, then follow the on-screen instructions. Apple Support says, “New subscribers can start a trial and cancel at any time.” The effect and timing of cancellation can depend on the offer terms that apply to your account. Should you buy a device just to get the trial?
Only consider the promotion alongside the value and cost of the hardware itself. A free subscription period does not establish that a device purchase is worthwhile, and the offer may not be available for the model or in the country you have in mind. If you already own a potentially eligible device, check its eligibility in Apple Music before assuming you qualify.

Check the terms before you claim
- Confirm that the three-month offer appears for your Apple Account; the ordinary new-subscriber trial may instead be one month.
- Verify your exact device model and country-specific eligibility.
- Check the activation or pairing deadline, the post-trial price and the cancellation rules shown with the offer.
- Use the Apple Account you want associated with the subscription and make sure the iPhone or iPad used for pairing is up to date.
