Reddit says it will stop supporting RSS feeds on November 13, 2026. As of October 4, 2026, direct feeds and services that convert Reddit URLs into feeds may still work, but there is no confirmed general-purpose replacement for people following communities they do not moderate. Reddit’s suggested Discord Relay and Devvit options are aimed at moderator alerts, not personal subscriptions to arbitrary subreddits. Check feed behavior again after November 13; a failure then may reflect the announced change rather than a problem with your reader.

What is changing, and who loses access?

In its September 30, 2026 announcement, Reddit said it will stop supporting RSS feeds on November 13, 2026, citing their use as a surface for large-scale scraping and automated abuse. Reddit says it will preserve moderation workflows that depend on RSS through supported alternatives, but it also states: “If you use RSS for feeds outside of a community you moderate, there is no replacement.” Reddit’s announcement therefore distinguishes moderator alerts from the feeds an ordinary reader uses to follow unrelated communities.

If you follow a few subreddits in an RSS reader, the practical answer is that there is no official, general-purpose successor announced for that use. The methods below describe options while feeds or conversion services remain available; they are not a guarantee of access after November 13.

How to add a Reddit feed while it still works

Use Reddit’s direct feed URL

  1. Open the subreddit page you want to follow.
  2. Add .rss or .atom to the page URL. For example, https://www.reddit.com/r/redditsecurity.rss is a documented direct-feed format.
  3. Open that address in a browser. If it displays feed data, copy the URL.
  4. In your feed reader, choose its add-subscription option, paste the URL, and save it.
  5. Start with one feed and confirm that your reader parses it before adding more communities or searches.

Exact feed contents, update timing, item counts, and support for sorting can vary; the available documentation does not establish those details for every feed type and reader. High-volume communities can also overwhelm a reader, so add only feeds you need.

Use Open RSS URL conversion

Open RSS’s Reddit documentation describes converting subreddit, search, user, and comment-related Reddit pages into feed URLs. Its general process is to start with the relevant Reddit page, optionally choose a supported sort or time filter, prepend openrss.org/ to the page URL, open the transformed address, and add the resulting feed to your reader. Follow the service’s current instructions for the particular feed type you want.

Open RSS also recommends filtering high-frequency subreddit feeds to a “Top” time period to reduce overload. That is the service’s practical suggestion, not a guarantee that every feed or reader supports the same filters. The documentation describes the service’s current operation; it does not promise that converted feeds will keep working after Reddit’s retirement date.

Which alternatives cover which use?

Option Best fit Important limit
Discord Relay / Devvit Moderators who need common community alerts through a supported workflow. Reddit says this does not replace RSS for communities you do not moderate. See Reddit’s Discord Relay guidance.
Open RSS Readers using its documented URL conversion for subreddit, search, user, or comment-related feeds while the service works. Continued access after Reddit stops supporting feeds is not established.
RSS-Bridge Readers exploring a third-party feed generator, public instance, or self-hosted setup. Its documentation does not establish that it can continue fetching Reddit content after the announced retirement. Public instances add a service dependency; self-hosting adds setup and maintenance.
Reddit API / Devvit Developers evaluating Reddit’s documented interfaces for an eligible application or workflow. API endpoint documentation is not evidence of unauthenticated reader access or a consumer RSS replacement. Credentials, approval, or migration requirements may apply.

RSS-Bridge’s public-host list describes hosted and self-hosted possibilities, but does not verify a dependable post-November route to arbitrary Reddit feeds. Reddit’s API reference documents subreddit listings such as hot, new, and rising; the existence of those endpoints does not establish that an ordinary feed reader can use them.

Privacy, limits, and reliability to consider

Direct Reddit feeds have bandwidth limits, and Reddit can see details of the device requesting a feed, including its IP address. Do not treat a direct feed as private or unlimited. With a third-party converter or public bridge, requests also involve that service; consider its terms, logging practices, and reliability before relying on it. Self-hosting can reduce dependence on a public bridge, but it does not establish that Reddit will continue providing the underlying content after November 13.

  • Built-in WebView to read full articles without leaving the app
  • Supports multiple news categories: World, Technology, Business, and more

There is no supported evidence here for ranking these services by reliability or privacy. The meaningful differences are whether the option covers communities you moderate or any community you follow, which service must fetch the content, how much configuration and maintenance it requires, and what happens if Reddit changes access.

Troubleshoot a feed that is not working

  • Before November 13: check the URL spelling and confirm that your reader can parse the feed. If appropriate, try the documented Open RSS conversion method.
  • Do not increase request frequency: Reddit cites scraping and automated abuse in its reason for retiring feeds, and Open RSS warns about bandwidth limits.
  • After November 13: if a direct or converted feed fails, treat the retirement as a possible cause. Re-adding .rss or switching to an old Reddit URL is not a demonstrated way around a platform-level change.
  • If you moderate a community: review Reddit’s Discord Relay setup guidance and decide how to handle alerts before the retirement date. This workflow is for moderator use, not for following unrelated communities.

Recheck the services you rely on after November 13, 2026: their current documentation does not establish a reliable post-retirement route for ordinary readers’ arbitrary subreddit feeds.
