To flip an Epson projector image for an upside-down ceiling or wall mount, open the projector’s Projection setting and choose Front/Upside Down or Front/Ceiling. The exact menu path and wording depend on the model.
Flip the image for an upside-down mount
- Turn on the projector and display an image.
- Press Menu (or the model’s menu or settings button).
- Open Settings or Installation, then select Projection. On some models, find it under Extended.
- Select Front/Upside Down or Front/Ceiling, then press Enter. This flips the image top-to-bottom for an upside-down front projection. Epson’s CO-W01 guide describes this mode as flipping the image top-to-bottom for ceiling or wall mounting.
- Exit the menu and check the image. If your menu differs, use the guide for your exact projector model; Epson documents different menu layouts.
Choose the right Projection mode for your setup
The correct setting depends on whether the projector is upside down, behind the screen, or both. Epson’s projection-mode guide explains the available orientations.
| Projector placement | Projection mode | What it corrects |
|---|---|---|
| Facing the front of the screen in a typical tabletop setup | Front | Standard orientation. |
| Upside-down mount in front of the screen | Front/Upside Down or Front/Ceiling | Vertical flip (top-to-bottom). |
| Projecting from behind a translucent screen | Rear | Horizontal flip (left-to-right). |
| Upside-down mount behind a translucent screen | Rear/Upside Down or Rear/Ceiling | Both vertical and horizontal flips. |
Try the remote shortcut only if your model supports it
Some Epson models let you change the projection mode by holding the remote’s Image A/V mute button for about six seconds. It is a model-specific shortcut, not a universal control. Check your projector’s guide before relying on it. Epson documents the shortcut in its projector guide and EF11 guide.

Epson manuals show the Projection control in several locations, including Settings > Installation > Projection, Installation > Projection, and Extended > Projection. The mode may be called Front/Upside Down or Front/Ceiling. Search Epson support for your model’s user guide and follow its menu path rather than assuming every projector uses the same labels.
