First identify which home screen is missing Plex: Google TV’s launcher or the Home screen inside the Plex app. For missing Google TV Continue watching tiles, check the active profile’s services, confirm Apps only mode is off, then update Plex and test playback. If Plex has disappeared from Google TV’s Your services list after an app update, a recent Plex integration regression is a plausible cause; reports about fixes are mixed and device-specific.
Identify which home screen is affected
Google TV Home and Plex Home are separate screens with separate recommendation settings. Google TV’s launcher may show a Continue watching row and service-based suggestions. Plex has its own Home screen and rows for pinned media libraries. Start with the screen where the movies or shows are missing, because changing Plex library settings will not restore Google TV launcher tiles.
- Missing from Google TV Home: Check the Google TV profile’s service list and launcher settings below.
- Missing from Plex Home: Pin the relevant library in Plex’s sidebar and review Plex’s recommendation settings.
Fix missing Plex tiles in Google TV Continue watching
1. Check the active profile’s services
- On the TV, open Settings → Accounts & Sign In.
- Select the profile you use on Google TV, then open Your services.
- If Plex is listed, turn it on and exit Settings to save the change.
Google says selected services can affect recommendations, but it also cautions that recommendations are not available for every show, movie, or service. If Plex is missing from Your services as well as from Continue watching, toggling a service cannot restore an integration that is not listed. Google TV’s Apps only mode removes personalized recommendations from the home screen. Turn it off if recommendation rows are hidden. This is a visibility check, not a documented fix for Plex disappearing from Your services. Google explains the mode and its effects in its Google TV home-screen guidance.

3. Check for a Plex app update
Open the Play Store on the TV, find Plex, and install an update if one is offered. A Plex forum thread reports that Watch Next integration stopped appearing for one user after updating the Android TV/Google TV app to version 2026.17.x. Plex staff member brdunn3700 wrote on October 1, 2026, that Google was “in-between two different APIs for publishing the continue watching content to the home screen right now and we added a fallback to use the older API when the newer API is not available in 2026.19.0.” That forum reply describes a fallback, not a guarantee that every device or build will work.
Reports in the same thread remained mixed through October 3, 2026. One user said Plex 2026.19.1 still did not restore Continue watching, although Plex channels appeared in the third-party Projectivy launcher. Another participant said build 971050469 restored entries in their launcher, after reporting no fix with their Play Store build 2026.19.0 (971050451). The thread does not establish that build 971050469 is broadly available through Google Play, works with stock Google TV Home, or fixes the issue for other devices. Do not treat a sideloaded build as the standard solution. Read the Plex forum reports and updates.

4. Retest with fresh playback
- Confirm Plex is enabled in Your services, if it appears there.
- Play a movie or show in Plex for a few minutes.
- Pause or stop playback, return to Google TV Home, and check Continue watching.
This playback-and-return sequence is the reproduction procedure described in the forum thread. A tile appearing after the test is a useful check; its absence does not by itself prove which component is at fault.

5. Avoid treating repeated resets as a proven fix
In the reported case, rebooting, clearing Plex’s cache and data, signing in again, and reinstalling Plex did not restore the missing service entry or tiles. These steps can help with unrelated app problems, but the reports do not support promising that they fix this particular integration regression.

Use the symptom to narrow down the cause

The current reports are device-specific, not a controlled compatibility test. The original report involved a Google TV Streamer 4K running Android TV OS 14 and Plex Media Server 1.43.4.10903; another user described a TCL Google TV on Android TV 14. Those accounts do not establish that every Google TV device is affected or that the server version is the cause.
Restore missing rows inside Plex Home
If the content is missing from the Plex app’s own Home screen, pin the relevant media library in Plex’s sidebar and check Plex’s recommendation settings. Plex says enabled library rows can appear on the player Home screen when that library is pinned. Collection rows have separate Plex Pass and software-version requirements; those requirements concern Plex’s own screen, not Google TV’s external Continue watching row. Do not confuse watchlists with Continue watching
Plex Universal Watchlist is a Plex account feature, while Google TV Watchlist is tied to a Google account. Saving a title to either list is separate from Plex publishing playback progress to Google TV’s Continue watching row, so watchlist changes should not be expected to repair that integration. Why an installed app may not appear on Google TV Home
Having Plex installed does not guarantee that every Plex title will be recommended by Google TV. Google says home suggestions can depend on services selected, activity, device, region, and commercial arrangements, and that app developers integrate their content for discovery. See Google TV’s platform overview. This is why a missing tile is not always a playback or server problem.
