Start by checking whether the problem affects one Paramount+ title or everything you try. Then refresh the app and device, check the network, and verify device compatibility. This order can narrow down the cause without jumping straight to a reset or buying new equipment.
1. Check whether one title or all of Paramount+ is affected
Try another episode, movie, or show in Paramount+. If only one title fails, note its name and when you tried to play it, then try again later. Roku recommends testing other titles in the same app to help identify a title-specific playback problem: Roku support.
If all titles fail, test Paramount+ on another device on the same network, if one is available. If it works there, focus first on the original device or app. If playback fails on multiple devices, check the network as well; the comparison can help narrow the cause, but does not establish whether the network or Paramount+ service is responsible. These comparisons are diagnostic steps, not a guarantee.
2. Refresh Paramount+ and restart the device
- Close Paramount+ and open it again.
- Restart the streaming device.
- Check for available Paramount+ app and device software updates, and install them.
- If your device offers the controls, force-stop Paramount+ and clear its cache, then relaunch it. Paramount+’s indexed support guidance describes these steps for supported device contexts: Paramount+ streaming-issues guidance.
Fire TV: clear cache and data if needed
Paramount+’s indexed Fire TV guidance says clearing the app’s cache and data can help resolve streaming issues and recommends restarting the device: Paramount+ Fire TV guidance. Menu labels and available controls vary by Fire TV model and software version, so use the current Settings menus on your device rather than relying on a path that may no longer match.

3. Check your internet connection
If the device uses Wi-Fi, confirm that it is connected and try playback again. If Wi-Fi problems continue, Paramount+ support recommends restarting the modem and router, then relaunching the app: Paramount+ streaming-issues guidance. Roku also includes connection checks in its playback troubleshooting: Roku support.
For diagnosis, you can try the device on another network or use Ethernet if the device supports a wired connection. If playback changes, the original Wi-Fi route may be contributing, but that result does not prove it is the only cause. Wired networking is not a universal fix for app, account, compatibility, title-availability, or service-side problems.

4. Record the full error before looking up a fix
Write down the complete on-screen message and code, the title, your device model, app version if available, and whether other titles play. Paramount+ has an Error codes section in its Help Center, but the detailed entries are not available in the linked material here: Paramount+ Help Center. Check the current official entry for the exact code and platform rather than guessing what the number means or applying a fix intended for a different error.
