To fix crackling in an OBS YouTube Live promotion, first find where it enters: listen to the source, OBS monitoring, a local recording, and the YouTube playback. That comparison tells you whether to focus on the microphone or its settings, OBS routing and system load, or the stream’s delivery path. There is no established India-specific crackling fix; check the connection only when OBS output is clean but live playback is not.
Find where the crackling starts
Make a short test recording while reproducing the noise. Listen to the input outside OBS if possible, OBS monitoring, the local recording, and the YouTube stream. Note whether the crackle is constant or occurs only under load, with a particular scene or source, or after going live. YouTube advises checking the sources routed to the encoder and the local archive when diagnosing audio quality: YouTube’s audio and video quality guidance.

Check OBS inputs and sample rates
Confirm the intended microphone is the one being captured
In OBS, check the active audio sources and confirm that the promotion’s intended microphone or interface is selected. Look for an unintended webcam microphone or other input being mixed in. If a single source seems responsible, temporarily disable the others and make another short recording.
Compare OBS and device formats
Compare the sample rate in OBS Settings → Audio with the operating system’s format for the selected audio device and, where relevant, the interface’s control panel. A configuration-specific OBS forum case describes a 48 kHz OBS setup with a 16 kHz microphone and recommends consistent formats; that is a clue to investigate, not proof that a mismatch causes every crackle: OBS forum sample-rate case. Check what the actual device supports before changing its format.

Use YouTube’s encoder values for the channel format
For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio. Its advanced encoder guidance gives these audio settings: YouTube’s encoder settings.

These published recommendations are not the same as the forum suggestion to use matching 48 kHz formats across OBS and a device. Choose settings based on the actual device, channel format, and YouTube guidance rather than treating one sample rate as a universal crackling fix.

Inspect encoder messages, CPU load, and stream health
Check OBS logs and the YouTube Live Control Room for audio or encoder errors. YouTube says poor quality can originate in the sources routed to the encoder; it also recommends checking encoder errors and CPU load and reviewing a local archive. If the local output sounds clean, but YouTube playback does not, check stream health and test the outbound connection. If a connection test identifies a problem, contact your internet provider.
Do not raise the video bitrate just because the audio crackles. A bitrate change is not established as a general audio fix; tie any setting change to a diagnostic message or a repeatable test.

Check YouTube audio ingestion errors
YouTube’s error guidance says the ingestion stream should contain one audio stream—not zero or multiple—and instructs creators to correct audio-setting errors: YouTube live encoder error guidance. If Live Control Room reports an audio error, use that message to guide the correction rather than changing unrelated settings.
Run a realistic test before the shop promotion
YouTube recommends testing before going live with audio and movement similar to the intended stream, and monitoring quality continuously: encoder test guidance and live streaming tips.

- Set up the same OBS scenes, microphone, and audio routing you intend to use for the promotion.
- Record and listen to speech, product-demo sounds, and any music you plan to use. Check scene changes and transitions as well.
- Compare the source, OBS monitoring, local recording, and YouTube playback so you can identify the stage where noise appears.
- Review OBS logs and YouTube stream-health messages, then address any specific error they show.
- If available, listen to the YouTube playback on a second device. Keep monitoring audio and video quality during the event.
For music or other material in a shop promo, use audio you are authorized to stream. A clean signal does not establish that the material is cleared for use.
