If Nintendo eShop will not open on your Switch, first check Nintendo’s network maintenance and operational status and your internet provider’s outage notices. Then note the exact error code shown on the console and search for that code on Nintendo Support. Work through local Wi-Fi, console and router checks before changing account settings or contacting support.
First check whether Nintendo or your internet provider has an outage
On Nintendo’s network maintenance and operational status page, look for a service interruption or planned maintenance. Also check your internet provider’s service notices. Nintendo cautions that status information may be delayed, so a page that appears clear or has not changed recently does not rule out an active issue.
If Nintendo’s service is unavailable, local Wi-Fi adjustments are unlikely to restore eShop access. Wait for service to return, then try again. If there is no listed incident, continue with the checks below.
Record the exact error code before troubleshooting
Write down the full error code as displayed and search for that exact code on Nintendo Support. Codes can describe different failures; do not infer a cause from the digits or apply another code’s fix.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What error 2110-2215 means
Nintendo says error 2110-2215 appears when a Switch cannot connect correctly to a wireless access point. Possible causes include incorrect internet settings, such as a password, or unstable wireless conditions. Nintendo’s instructions for error 2110-2215 include re-entering internet settings, restarting the console and router, updating software and improving wireless signal quality. This diagnosis applies to that code specifically, not to every eShop connection error.
Check the Switch’s Wi-Fi connection and signal
- Move the Switch to about 2–3 metres from the wireless router while setting up or checking the connection. Nintendo gives this distance in its Wi-Fi setup guide; it is a setup recommendation, not proof that distance is the cause.
- On the console, open HOME > System Settings > Internet > Internet Settings.
- Select the correct Wi-Fi network name (SSID), then enter its password carefully. Check capitalization and punctuation against the router label or its documentation if needed.
- Run the console’s connection test and note whether it reports a successful connection or displays an error code.
If the connection test fails, focus on the network path before changing Nintendo Account settings. If it succeeds but eShop still will not open, continue to the account checks below.

Restart and update the console and network equipment
- Restart the Switch. Nintendo recommends restarting as a check for a temporary problem. Then retry the connection test and eShop.
- Check system software. Open System Settings > System > System Update and follow the on-screen instructions if an update is available. For current release details, consult Nintendo’s system update information; version numbers change over time.
- Restart the router or modem. Follow the equipment manufacturer’s instructions; restart procedures vary by model.
- Check router firmware. If it is out of date, use the router manufacturer’s instructions to update it.
Nintendo includes these steps in its guidance for unstable internet connections. After restarting or updating, test the Switch’s connection again.
Choose the network-specific check: Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet
| Connection path | What to check | What the result can tell you |
|---|---|---|
| Wi-Fi | Review wireless quality, test near the router, and verify the selected SSID and password. | If performance improves near the router, wireless signal conditions may be involved. It does not by itself identify the underlying cause. |
| Wired Ethernet | Reseat the Ethernet cable fully at both ends and try another router port. If your setup uses a LAN adapter, reseat it too. | If wired access works while Wi-Fi does not, that helps isolate a wireless-specific problem. It does not fix a Nintendo or upstream ISP outage, or an account issue. |
When a wired test is possible
Nintendo supports wired internet on Switch, but the equipment depends on the setup. The OLED model’s HEG-007 dock has a built-in LAN port. Other docked setups may need a compatible LAN adapter, and Switch Lite requires additional hardware for wired connection. Nintendo’s wired-connection instructions explain the setup. Check your exact model and dock before buying or connecting hardware; a cable or adapter is only a way to test the connection path, not a guaranteed eShop fix.

Optional: temporarily change DNS
Nintendo lists a temporary DNS change as a possible connection check. If you try it, record the existing DNS setting first and restore it to automatic or its previous value if the change does not help. DNS settings are network-specific, so do not treat a changed setting as a universal fix.
Check the selected user’s Nintendo Account if internet works
eShop needs an internet connection and a Nintendo Account linked to the Switch user selected to open the store. Nintendo’s eShop requirements page describes these prerequisites, but it explicitly applies to accounts set to Japan. For account access, payment, or prepaid-code rules elsewhere, use Nintendo Support for your own country or region.

To check the account link, open System Settings > Users, select the user you use for eShop, and review the account information shown there. Confirm it is the intended Nintendo Account. Nintendo warns that a linked account cannot simply be swapped for another one, so do not unlink or relink casually; consult the regional support guidance if the account is wrong.

If the service is available, the Switch can connect to the internet, and the relevant setup checks have not resolved eShop access, contact Nintendo Support. Provide the exact displayed error code, your Switch model and connection type, and the router or ISP details relevant to the issue. If the connection test succeeds but the store still fails, say so; that helps distinguish eShop or account access from a basic network connection failure.
