Microsoft Loop can fail at several different layers on Windows 11: the installed app, Microsoft Store, your browser session, Microsoft 365 account, SharePoint storage, or the company network. The fastest way to locate the fault is to test the web version before changing the Windows installation.
Open Edge or Chrome and visit https://loop.cloud.microsoft. Sign in with the same personal, work, or school account used by the Windows app. If Loop works on the web, your account and the service are probably available; focus on repairing or resetting the Windows app. If the web version also fails, continue with the account, licensing, storage, tenant, and network checks below.
Fix Microsoft Loop not working on Windows 11
1. Restart Windows and install updates
A restart can clear a stuck Store process, pending app registration, or temporary authentication failure. Select Start > Power > Restart.
After Windows starts again, install pending updates:

- Open Start > Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install the available updates and restart again if Windows requests it.
Do not skip this step if Loop started failing after a Windows or Microsoft 365 update. Microsoft’s current release-health information lists Windows 11 version 25H2 as the latest release. Windows 11 Home and Pro version 24H2 are scheduled to reach the end of updates on October 13, 2026. See Microsoft’s Windows 11 release health page for current status information.
2. Repair the Microsoft Loop app
Windows 11’s Repair option attempts to fix the app while retaining its local data. Use it before resetting or uninstalling Loop.
- Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find Microsoft Loop.
- Select the … button next to it.
- Select Advanced options.
- Select Repair.
Launch Loop after the repair completes. If Advanced options or Repair is missing, that installation does not expose those controls through Windows Settings. Microsoft notes that not every app provides Repair, Change, or Modify options.

Reset is more aggressive than Repair. It permanently removes Loop’s local app data, including preferences and saved sign-in details, so you will need to sign in again.
- Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Select … next to Microsoft Loop.
- Select Advanced options.
- Select Reset.
- Select Reset again to confirm.
- Open Loop and sign in with the correct account.
Resetting the Windows app does not delete Loop workspaces stored in Microsoft’s cloud services. Depending on the account and feature, Loop content is stored through OneDrive, SharePoint, or SharePoint Embedded. You can confirm the storage and service requirements in Microsoft’s Loop requirements documentation.
4. Reset the Microsoft Store cache
Use this step when Loop will not install, update, or reinstall, especially if other Microsoft Store downloads are also stuck.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
wsreset.exe. - Select OK.
A blank Command Prompt window normally appears for about 10 seconds. It should close automatically and Microsoft Store should open. This resets the Store cache; it does not uninstall Microsoft Store or delete your Loop content.
5. Update or reinstall Loop from Microsoft Store
Use the official Microsoft Store listing rather than downloading an unofficial installer. The product is listed as Microsoft Loop, with Store ID 9p1hq5tqzmgd.

- Open Microsoft Store.
- Select Library.
- Select Get updates.
- Search for Microsoft Loop.
- Open the listing published by Microsoft.
- Select Get, Install, or Update, depending on what Windows displays.
You can also open the official listing directly at Microsoft Loop in Microsoft Store.
If Microsoft Store does not appear in Start, the device may be using a local Windows account, or an administrator may have disabled or restricted the Store. On a work-managed computer, contact your organization’s IT department rather than trying to work around its policy.
6. Do not remove Microsoft Store with PowerShell
Many troubleshooting pages recommend removing Microsoft Store with PowerShell and reinstalling it with Add-AppxPackage. Microsoft does not support that procedure. Microsoft’s guidance says uninstalling or reinstalling the Microsoft Store app is unsupported; if the Store has been removed, the supported recovery options are resetting or reinstalling Windows.

Use wsreset.exe, Windows Update, the Store’s normal repair options, or administrator support instead. See Microsoft’s Microsoft Store recovery guidance.
7. Fix an app that opens and immediately closes
For a Loop window that appears briefly and then disappears, use this order:
- Restart Windows.
- Install Windows updates.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Select … > Advanced options next to Microsoft Loop.
- Select Repair.
- If the crash continues, select Reset.
- If Reset fails, uninstall Microsoft Loop and reinstall it from Microsoft Store.
Microsoft also documents a WinGet-based diagnostic process for Store and modern apps that fail to start. It requires administrator privileges and an internet connection. Do not guess a Loop package name or ID. The documented syntax is:

8. Fix Loop stuck on loading or sign-in
Test Loop in a private browser session to separate stale cookies and an incorrect account from an actual service or account problem:
- Open Edge or Chrome.
- Open an InPrivate or Incognito window.
- Go to https://loop.cloud.microsoft.
- Sign in with the intended account.
Check which type of account you are using:
| Account | What can affect access |

| Personal Microsoft account | Account setup, storage quota, and the required Microsoft services. |
| Work or school account | Microsoft 365 licensing, Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, storage, and administrator policies. |
Personal Microsoft accounts can use the Loop web app, but personal accounts do not support Loop components in Teams, Outlook, or other Microsoft 365 apps. If the Windows app repeatedly chooses the wrong account, use Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Loop > … > Advanced options > Reset, then sign in again.
9. Fix “We couldn’t save the Loop workspace and pages you’ve created”
This message usually points to account setup or Microsoft 365 storage rather than a broken Windows app.

Visit Outlook.com and sign in with the same Microsoft account. Microsoft says this allows the Outlook-related setup required by Loop to complete. Return to Loop and try creating or saving the workspace again.
Work or school account
Your organization account needs all of the following:
- An active Exchange Online mailbox.
- A mailbox that is not a shared mailbox.
- At least read access to the organization’s SharePoint Online root site.
These requirements may need to be corrected by a Microsoft 365 administrator. An administrator can also disable the creation of Loop workspaces, pages, or components through organizational policy. Existing content may still be viewable when creation is disabled.
10. Fix offline status or collaboration that does not update
If Loop works on a home connection but shows Offline, remains on Reconnecting, or fails to update another person’s edits on a company network, suspect the VPN, proxy, firewall, DNS filter, secure web gateway, or tenant configuration.

*.office.comAllowing only loop.cloud.microsoft may not be sufficient. Microsoft directs administrators to use the current Office 365 URLs and IP address ranges guidance because Loop relies on core Microsoft 365 and SharePoint services as well as its main web address.
11. Check whether a Loop component is supported where you are using it
Loop components are currently supported in Teams, Outlook, OneNote, and Whiteboard, but availability varies by Microsoft cloud environment. Loop workspaces are available in the commercial cloud but are not available in GCC, GCC High, DoD, sovereign, or air-gapped environments according to Microsoft’s availability information.
A component may also stop loading if its .loop file was moved to another document library. Moving it to a different folder within the same library does not cause this particular problem, but moving it to another library can prevent the component from loading. Check the file’s location in OneDrive or SharePoint and ask the site owner to restore it to the original library if necessary.
12. External sharing may be the limitation
External sharing is not necessarily a Windows 11 problem. Microsoft currently states that the Loop app does not support external sharing with guests or external users. Components sent through email may also fail for external recipients unless the organization has enabled sharing with those recipients.
If Loop works for internal users but not for a guest, check the organization’s sharing policy and the supported experience before repairing the Windows app.
13. Check Microsoft cloud storage
Loop workspaces and pages count toward Microsoft cloud storage. Exceeding the quota can affect Loop storage operations and, for personal accounts, can also prevent sending or receiving email.
For work accounts, Loop components create .loop files in OneDrive, SharePoint, or SharePoint Embedded. That content counts against the organization’s SharePoint quota. Check the account’s available storage, remove unnecessary files if permitted, or ask the Microsoft 365 administrator to check the tenant’s SharePoint and OneDrive quotas.

- Open Loop on the web.
- In the upper-right corner, select Settings and more.
- Select Help & feedback.
- Select Give feedback.
Microsoft also provides Help > Give feedback in the bottom-right corner of the web app. Include the exact error, account type, whether the web version works, whether the issue occurs on another network, and what happened after Repair or Reset.

What is the current Microsoft Loop website?
The current Loop web address is https://loop.cloud.microsoft. Microsoft support pages that mention loop.microsoft.com may be outdated.
Will resetting Microsoft Loop delete my workspaces?
No. Reset removes the Windows app’s local data, including preferences and sign-in details. Loop workspaces stored in Microsoft cloud services such as OneDrive, SharePoint, or SharePoint Embedded are not deleted by resetting the app.
Why is Microsoft Loop missing from Microsoft Store?
Microsoft Store may be unavailable for a local Windows account, or an administrator may have disabled it on a work-managed PC. Search for Microsoft Store in Start; if it is restricted, contact IT.
Does Microsoft Loop require a paid Microsoft 365 subscription?

Why can I view Loop content but not create a workspace?
Your account may lack the required Exchange Online mailbox or SharePoint access, your storage quota may be full, or a Microsoft 365 administrator may have disabled workspace, page, or component creation.
Should I uninstall Microsoft Store with PowerShell?
No. Microsoft says uninstalling or reinstalling Microsoft Store is unsupported. Use wsreset.exe, Windows Update, supported Store options, or administrator assistance instead.

The Bottom Line
Start by opening Loop on the web. If it works there, restart Windows, update Windows, then use Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Loop > Advanced options to run Repair and then Reset if necessary. Reinstall the app from the official Microsoft Store listing only after those steps.
If the web version also fails, investigate the account type, Exchange Online and SharePoint requirements, storage quota, administrator policies, and corporate network endpoints. Those issues cannot be fixed by reinstalling the Windows app.
