A regional URL does not guarantee that a LambdaTest screenshot session is using an Indian IP address. First inspect the failed session’s test and screenshot status, then determine whether the site depends on the visitor’s IP, browser location coordinates, or access through a private network. Those are separate causes and may require different settings.

Start with the failed session details

Before changing settings, preserve the exact failure evidence. LambdaTest’s screenshot API result includes the test ID and status, submitted URL, operating system, browser and version, screenshot status, and resolution. Use those fields to see whether the request failed before capture, or whether the browser loaded a page that produced an unsuccessful screenshot status. See the LambdaTest screenshot API documentation.

  • Copy the exact URL sent to the API, including scheme, regional subdomain, path, and query string.
  • Record the test ID, returned test status, and screenshot status.
  • Check the requested operating system, browser/version, and resolution against the combination you intended to test.
  • Compare the submitted URL in the result with the URL you expected LambdaTest to open.

No particular URL, error message, response code, test ID, or browser configuration is available here, so these steps diagnose likely causes rather than claim a specific reproduced fix.

Does a regional URL make LambdaTest use an Indian IP?

No. A regional hostname or path identifies the address you request; it does not by itself establish the country of the browser session’s IP address. TestMu AI describes IP geolocation as routing a session through an IP address in the selected country. If the website chooses language, prices, or availability based on the visitor’s network location, select India in LambdaTest’s IP Geolocation control rather than relying on the URL alone. See TestMu AI’s geolocation guide.

Set geolocation to India

For a live browser session

  1. Open the live testing session in LambdaTest.
  2. Open the session’s IP Geolocation panel.
  3. Choose India, then reload the exact regional URL and capture again.

The provider’s guide describes selecting a country from the live session’s IP Geolocation panel and includes India as an example. Product labels and availability can change, so if the panel is absent, consult the current guide or account UI.

For an automated Selenium run

Use LambdaTest’s capabilities generator to set the geolocation country to India, then use the generated capabilities in the desired browser session. The geolocation guide documents this automated setup as well. Verify the generated capability and the resulting session details rather than assuming a regional URL sets the session location.

Choose the location control the site actually uses

IP geolocation and browser/device geolocation are not interchangeable. IP geolocation changes the apparent country at the network level, which is relevant when a server chooses content from the request’s IP. Browser geolocation supplies coordinates through browser location APIs, which matters when a website or app requests device location. TestMu AI distinguishes these controls in its geolocation documentation.

  • If the site varies content by country without asking for device location, test with India IP geolocation.
  • If the site requests location permission or reads browser coordinates, test its location API behavior separately; choosing an Indian IP may not provide the coordinates it expects.
  • If behavior is unclear, run controlled captures changing one location mechanism at a time and compare the resulting page.

Check whether LambdaTest Tunnel is necessary

A public regional website should generally be tested first without Tunnel. Tunnel is relevant when the target is private, local, or otherwise only reachable through a network connection your LambdaTest session needs. If the URL is inaccessible, distinguish a reachability problem from a location-dependent page response before changing geolocation.

There is a dated provider support answer to account for: on October 10, 2023, TestMu AI support said Tunnel and geolocation could not be used simultaneously because the session machine’s proxy settings could be configured for only one. Treat that as a documented constraint from that date, not a guarantee of current behavior; verify with current LambdaTest support before designing a workflow that requires both. See the support answer.

Common failure patterns and what to try

Symptom Likely check Next step
The page loads, but shows the wrong country’s content The regional URL may not control server-side localization. Set IP Geolocation to India and rerun; if the site uses browser coordinates, test that separately.
The page cannot be reached The URL may be private or otherwise inaccessible from the cloud session. Confirm the exact URL and whether Tunnel is required. For a public URL, try without Tunnel first.
The result is marked failed or has no usable screenshot Check the returned test status and per-screenshot status, plus browser/version and resolution. Use the API result details to identify whether the failure occurred at session setup or capture, then retry with a valid intended configuration.
India geolocation is unavailable while Tunnel is enabled The provider’s October 10, 2023 support response documented a proxy-setting conflict. Confirm current product behavior with LambdaTest support; if possible, isolate the need by testing a public URL without Tunnel.

Or skip the browser setup

If your goal is a clean capture of a public page rather than a LambdaTest-specific browser session, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request returns an image or PDF. For example, using the API key and replacing the URL with your target:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots, and the free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
