If Full Page is missing on your iPhone, the screenshot feature is usually not broken. iOS offers Full Page for supported documents and webpages—Apple uses an entire Safari webpage as its example—but it does not expose the control for every app view. Take the screenshot, open its editor or preview, and choose Full Page when that tab appears. If the content is a chat or feed inside an app, open the original page in Safari or use the service’s export feature instead. When neither is available, capture overlapping screens and stitch them into one image.
iOS 26 changes where the editor appears: screenshots open in a full-screen preview by default rather than a temporary lower-left thumbnail. You can restore the thumbnail from Settings > General > Screen Capture > turn off Full-Screen Previews, but that setting changes only the preview style; it cannot add Full Page support to an app that does not provide it.
Take a Full Page screenshot the supported way
- Open the content you want to capture. For a long article or document, use the original webpage in Safari rather than an embedded view inside another app.
- Take a screenshot. On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the side button and volume-up button together. On an iPhone with a Home button, press the Home and side buttons together. Siri, AssistiveTouch, and Back Tap can also trigger a screenshot if the physical-button gesture is inconvenient.
- Open the screenshot tools. On iOS 18 and earlier, tap the temporary thumbnail at the lower left. On iOS 26, the screenshot opens automatically in a full-screen preview with quick tools.
- Select Full Page. If iOS supports that screen, the editor presents the Full Page option alongside the normal screen capture. Choose it, review the captured extent, and save or share it using the controls in the editor.
Apple’s iPhone User Guide describes capturing “an entire webpage in Safari” as an example. That wording matters: Full Page is a content-aware option, not a command that every application must implement.
Why the Full Page option is missing
You are looking at an app view, not a supported webpage or document
Many conversations, timelines, social feeds, and in-app browsers are assembled by the application rather than exposed as one continuous document. iOS may therefore offer only the visible-screen screenshot. Repeating the screenshot, restarting the phone, or changing the preview style does not add a Full Page control to an unsupported view.

The page is inside another app
If a link opened inside a news, shopping, mail, or social app, copy the link and open it in Safari. Take the screenshot from the original page there. This removes the app’s own scrolling container from the test and gives iOS the webpage context used in Apple’s example.
iOS 26 opened the editor differently
On iOS 26, the screenshot is displayed automatically with quick tools. There may be no lower-left thumbnail to tap first. If you prefer the older entry point, go to Settings > General > Screen Capture and turn Full-Screen Previews off. You will see the temporary thumbnail again, but the setting affects presentation only—not whether an app supports Full Page.
Find the editor on your installed iOS version
iOS 18 and earlier
After the button combination, look for the small screenshot thumbnail at the lower-left corner. Tap it before it disappears. The editor opens with the standard screenshot controls and, for supported content, a Full Page tab.
iOS 26
Apple’s current support guidance says the screenshot opens full screen with quick tools. Wait for that preview instead of looking for a thumbnail. To switch back temporarily to the older thumbnail workflow, use Settings > General > Screen Capture > Full-Screen Previews off.
Alternative ways to trigger the screenshot
- Siri: ask Siri to take a screenshot.
- AssistiveTouch: assign Screenshot to a custom AssistiveTouch action, then use that action while the page is open.
- Back Tap: assign Screenshot to a double- or triple-tap under the Back Tap accessibility settings.
These alternatives change how the capture starts. They do not change which screens can expose Full Page.

Use this troubleshooting flow when Full Page still does not appear
1. Classify the content
Ask whether the target is an entire webpage/document or a continuous app conversation/feed. For a webpage, open the URL directly in Safari and retry. For an app feed or chat, proceed to the export or stitching options below instead of treating the missing tab as a hardware failure.
2. Confirm that you opened the right preview
On iOS 18 and earlier, the editor is behind the lower-left thumbnail. On iOS 26, it is the automatic full-screen preview. If you changed Full-Screen Previews, follow the corresponding path for that setting. A preview-style mismatch can hide the editor entry point, but it cannot create support for an app view.
3. Retry from the original Safari page
Embedded webviews can expose only the visible region. Use the app’s Share or Copy Link command, open the result in Safari, wait for the page to finish loading, and take a new screenshot there. If Full Page appears in Safari, the original app container—not your iPhone—was the limitation.

For a chat, account history, or feed, check the service’s own menu for an export, print, save, or download command. An official export is preferable when completeness matters because it can represent the service’s underlying record rather than only the screens you happened to capture.
5. Stitch overlapping screenshots if no export exists
Capture a sequence of screens with a deliberate overlap. Keep the phone in the same orientation and use the same text size and zoom throughout. Join the images in a stitching app or image editor, then inspect every seam and the final bottom edge. LongShot’s publisher describes its app as combining overlapping iPhone screenshots into one long image; its guide was updated September 7, 2026. Other stitching tools follow the same basic workflow.

How to stitch an app feed or chat without losing content
- Prepare the view. Close keyboards, menus, floating buttons, and any transient overlays that would move between captures. Set one orientation and leave it unchanged.
- Start near the top. Capture the first screen, then scroll by less than one full screen so the next capture repeats a recognizable band.
- Keep a consistent overlap. Repeated lines of text or a distinctive image make alignment easier than trying to match blank backgrounds.
- Continue until the intended endpoint. Record where you stopped; a feed that keeps loading may not have a fixed bottom.
- Assemble and inspect. Align the repeated regions, remove duplicated bands, and check that no message, reply, image, or timestamp is cut at a seam.
A stitched image is a record of the screens you captured. It is not proof that a dynamic feed contains every item: new posts can load, replies can expand, and content can change while you scroll. When the record must be complete or auditable, prefer the service’s official export.
Choose the right fallback

Use Full Page when iOS offers it, an official export when the source provides one, and stitching as the practical fallback for unsupported app interfaces. These methods solve different capture problems; none can make a changing feed static after the fact.

- Top and bottom: confirm that the capture starts at the intended heading or first message and ends at the intended item.
- Seams: look for duplicated text, missing lines, abrupt jumps, or clipped images in every stitched join.
- Orientation and scale: verify that every source screenshot used the same orientation, zoom, and text size.
- Dynamic material: note whether the app loaded additional posts, replies, ads, or images while you worked.
- Privacy: remove account names, notification banners, addresses, and private messages before sending the image.
Performance and reliability considerations
Full Page is usually the least labor-intensive option because iOS creates the extended capture from a supported document. Stitching takes longer as the number of screens grows and introduces alignment work at every overlap. Dynamic pages are inherently less repeatable: lazy-loaded images, expanding replies, and refreshes can alter what appears between captures. If two people must reproduce the same record, save the source URL or export alongside the image and note the capture date and stopping point.
Do not infer a hardware fault solely from a missing Full Page tab. The decisive test is whether the same material works as a direct Safari webpage. If Safari also lacks Full Page, treat that as a support boundary for the content rather than evidence that changing a preview preference will fix it.

Use the API only for a URL that the service can load; it is not a replacement for exporting a private in-app conversation from an iPhone.
