Blurry photos usually come from a smudged or obstructed lens, missed focus, close-up or low-light limits, or movement. First identify when the blur appears; then clean the camera area, set focus and distance, and try the fixes for your specific phone. Samsung documents an 80 cm minimum distance for the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 5x telephoto camera. Google’s guidance applies to Pixel phones generally; it does not establish Pixel 11 Pro-specific behavior.
Why are my phone photos blurry?
Notice whether blur affects every shot or only particular conditions: dim rooms, close subjects, moving subjects, or one zoom setting. Change the angle or lighting and take another photo. If the result changes, the conditions may be contributing; if blur remains across different situations, continue through the checks below.
- Only low-light shots: Longer exposure and subject or camera movement can soften a photo.
- Only close-ups: The selected camera may be too far from its minimum focus distance, or a different camera may work better.
- Only one zoom setting: Check the Galaxy-specific 3x behavior described below, or whether the chosen camera is suited to the subject distance.
- Blur, halos, lines, or color distortion in many shots: Check for dirt, a cover, film, or damage over the camera glass. Google notes that obstructions and dirt can cause these image problems (Google Pixel Camera Help).
Clean the lens and remove anything covering it
- Remove the phone case, camera cover, or film if it overlaps the camera area. A lens protector can itself cause focus problems or light distortion, according to Samsung.
- Gently wipe all camera lenses with a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. Samsung specifies a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Inspect the glass for scratches, cracks, built-up dirt, or condensation. If the glass is damaged or condensation appears to be inside the phone, do not try to open or repair the camera yourself; contact the manufacturer or a repair provider.
Set focus and use a suitable subject distance
Pixel: tap the subject and allow working distance
In the Pixel Camera viewfinder, tap the subject to focus; Google says a white circle appears and tracks it. Google’s general Pixel guidance recommends keeping the main subject at least 2 feet (60 cm) away. That is broad Pixel advice, not a confirmed minimum focus distance for the Pixel 11 Pro. If a close subject stays soft, move back slightly and try again. See Google’s photo-quality guidance.

Samsung specifies that the S26 Ultra’s 5x telephoto camera needs at least 80 cm between the camera and subject. At high zoom, a nearby subject may look out of focus if that camera is selected. Move farther away or choose a lower zoom level. For a close subject with blur around it, turn on Focus enhancer by tapping the flower icon in the Camera preview. Samsung says it switches to the ultra-wide camera to reduce blur at close range (Samsung support).

Reduce blur in dim light or with moving subjects
Low light can produce dark, grainy, or blurry images. Brace the phone against a stable surface, hold it steadily, and add light to the subject if possible. Movement by either the phone or the subject can blur the shot.
On a Pixel, try the same scene with and without flash. If using Night Sight, keep both the phone and subject still while the image is captured; a tripod or stable surface can help. These are Google’s general Pixel recommendations, not a Pixel 11 Pro-specific guarantee (Google Pixel Camera Help).

Check whether blur is limited to Galaxy S26 Ultra 3x zoom
Samsung documents a specific behavior during 3x zoom changes on the Galaxy S26 Ultra: the image may briefly shift on screen because of positional parallax, and slight blur may appear in the top-left and bottom-right corners while autofocus-related lens movement occurs. Samsung recommends keeping device software up to date (Samsung’s 3x zoom support note). This explanation applies to the documented 3x behavior, not to blur at every zoom level or to Pixel phones. Software update availability can vary by region and carrier.

Try app troubleshooting if the camera problem seems software-related
If a Pixel camera issue persists after checking lighting, focus, and obstructions, try Google’s general Pixel app steps in order, checking the camera after each one. These instructions are for Pixel phones generally and are not confirmed as Pixel 11 Pro-specific:

- Restart the phone.
- Clear the Camera app cache.
- If photo quality remains poor, Google’s quality guidance also suggests clearing Camera app storage or uninstalling recent Camera app updates.
Google says that if another app also cannot access the camera, the issue may be hardware-related. Persistent blur across modes or apps, physical camera damage, or internal condensation warrants support rather than repeated app resets. Consult Google’s Pixel Camera app troubleshooting for app problems and its photo-quality guidance for image issues.

Arrange manufacturer or qualified repair support if the camera glass is cracked, condensation appears inside the device, or blur persists across different lighting, subject distances, and camera modes after the relevant checks. On Pixel, failure in more than one app to access the camera is another reason to contact support. Avoid treating a lens cloth, app reset, or zoom adjustment as a remedy for physical damage or a hardware fault.
