Start by identifying whether Apple Music is failing because of a service or internet connection, your Apple Account, the Android app itself, or an optional feature such as Chromecast or Android Auto. Check the lowest-risk causes first; clearing app data or reinstalling is a later general Android troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed Apple Music fix.
First, identify what is failing
Note the symptom and whether other apps or devices have the same problem. Apple Music is available through Google Play for Android devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop or later, and on Chromebooks that support Android apps. Apple’s compatibility and feature instructions are at Use Apple Music with your Android devices.
- Cannot connect, blank content, or stalled downloads: check service status and internet access.
- A trial offer appears or sign-in fails: check which Apple Account the app is using.
- The app crashes, will not open, or stops responding: try general Android app-repair steps.
- Music plays on the phone but not on a cast device or car display: check the feature’s separate requirements.
Buffering and being signed out are concerns some reviewers describe on the live Google Play listing. Those individual reports do not establish how common the problems are or what caused them: Apple Music on Google Play.
If Apple Music cannot connect or downloads stall
- Check whether the internet works outside Apple Music. Open a website in a browser on the Android device. If it will not load, the immediate problem may be the connection rather than the music app.
- Check Apple’s service status for your country or region. An outage—or one that has just begun—can prevent Apple services from connecting. Apple’s guidance is in If you can’t connect to the App Store, iTunes Store, or other Apple services.
- Compare devices on the same network. If other devices can access the internet but this Android device cannot, check whether a VPN or third-party security app is interfering. If no device on the network can open websites, restart the Wi-Fi router; contact your internet provider if access still does not return.
- Try another network, then try again later. This can help distinguish a problem with the current network from a temporary service issue.
- Check the device’s software and clock. Apple recommends updating non-Apple device software and making sure the date and time are correct for the time zone.
Apple’s connection article includes cellular-data menu instructions for iPhone and iPad; those are not Android directions. Android menu names and network controls can vary by manufacturer.

If the app shows a trial offer or you cannot sign in
A trial offer does not by itself mean an existing subscriber has lost access. In Apple Music, select Sign In; if that option is not visible, tap More, then Sign In. Use the Apple Account associated with the subscription. Apple’s instructions are in Use Apple Music with your Android devices.
If sign-in still fails, confirm you are entering the account used for Apple Music rather than assuming that reinstalling the app or changing a plan will restore authorization. Apple also notes that service availability can vary by country or region.

If Apple Music crashes, will not open, or freezes
Google’s steps below are general Android app troubleshooting guidance; they are not a diagnosis or an Apple Music-specific guarantee. Google advises restarting after each step to check whether the issue is fixed. Some of its instructions apply only to Android 8.1 and later, and device settings can have different names. See Google’s guide to fixing an Android app that isn’t working.
- Restart the phone.
- Install available updates. Check for Android system updates and an Apple Music update in Google Play.
- Force-stop Apple Music. Open the device’s Settings app, find the app list, select Apple Music, and choose Force stop. The exact path varies by Android device.
- Clear the app cache. In Settings, open Apple Music’s app information and storage controls, then choose the cache-clearing option if available. This is a general troubleshooting step, not an established cure for a particular Apple Music bug.
- Clear app data only if you accept the risk. The option is usually near the cache control in the app’s storage settings. Google’s guidance does not establish that Apple Music offline downloads will be preserved after data is cleared.
- Uninstall and reinstall only if needed. Get the app again through Google Play. Google warns that uninstalling erases data saved in that app, so do not assume locally saved app data will remain.
If Apple Music is the only app still malfunctioning after these steps, Google recommends contacting the app developer. Avoid treating a cache clear or reinstall as a confirmed fix for a specific Apple Music problem.

If Chromecast is the problem
Apple Music’s casting requirements are distinct from ordinary phone playback. The Android device and Chromecast need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. To cast, start a song, open Now Playing, tap Cast, then choose the device. Apple cautions that not all Apple Music content types or Chromecast devices support casting. If Apple Music is not working with Android Auto
Apple says Android Auto requires Apple Music for Android version 2.6 or later. Connect the phone to the car, open Android Auto on the car display, then open Apple Music. These are car-integration requirements, not a fix for sign-in, network, or ordinary playback problems. Apple’s steps are in Use Apple Music with your Android devices.

When the cause remains unclear
Match the next check to the scope of the failure: a service-status issue can affect Apple services, a network issue can affect several apps or devices, and an app-specific crash calls for Android app troubleshooting. If the problem persists only in Apple Music, contact Apple Support; if other apps also cannot reach the internet, follow up with the network provider. The available support guidance does not provide an Apple-published Android error-code guide, so a particular error message should not be assigned a remedy without further diagnosis.
