First identify how your ONN mouse connects: a USB receiver and Bluetooth use different fixes, and not every ONN model supports both. Check the model number and the switch or channel selector on the mouse before changing Windows settings. Then follow the receiver or Bluetooth steps below.
Identify whether the problem is with the USB receiver or Bluetooth
Look for a USB nano receiver in the mouse’s storage compartment, packaging, or the computer. If the mouse has a selector marked for USB and Bluetooth, note which position or channel is selected. Do not assume a receiver-based model can also pair over Bluetooth.
The ONN guide for model 100162482 describes a 2.4 GHz USB receiver and two Bluetooth channels; its receiver is stored in the battery compartment. Those details apply to that model, not necessarily to other ONN mice. See the ONN guide for model 100162482 and check your own model’s guide for its connection modes.

Fix an ONN mouse using a USB receiver
- Check the mouse’s power. Turn it on and verify that the battery is present and correctly oriented according to the markings in its compartment.
- Reconnect the receiver. Unplug it, then insert it into a working USB port. If the mouse remains unresponsive, try another port and temporarily connect directly to the PC instead of through a USB hub. These are among Microsoft’s general mouse and keyboard troubleshooting steps.
- Use the model-specific reconnect procedure only if it matches your mouse. For ONN model 100162482, select the USB receiver channel, reconnect the receiver, keep the mouse near it, and hold the Connect button on the underside for 10 seconds. The guide lists a malfunctioning USB port as another possible cause. Do not treat this 10-second instruction as a universal ONN reset.
- Check whether Windows or the receiver is the issue. Try the mouse on another computer if possible. If Windows gives no sign of the receiver, test another USB port before concluding that the receiver has failed. The reviewed guidance does not establish that a generic USB dongle will work as a replacement.
Fix an ONN mouse using Bluetooth
- Confirm the PC has Bluetooth and switch it on. In Windows 11, open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices. In Windows 10, open Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices. Microsoft’s Bluetooth connection troubleshooting covers both versions.
- Select the right mouse channel and enter pairing mode. Follow the instructions for your exact model. On model 100162482, holding Connect enters pairing mode and the LED blinks; choose the mouse from Windows’ Bluetooth device list. Microsoft notes that a Bluetooth device must be in pairing mode and within range of the PC.
- Move the mouse close to the computer and check its battery. Low power, being out of range, or not being in pairing mode can prevent pairing or a stable connection.
- If Windows lists the mouse but cannot connect, remove and pair it again. Remove the device from Windows Bluetooth settings, then add it again through the same settings page. You can also turn Bluetooth off, wait 10 seconds, turn it back on, and retry. Restarting the PC or checking Windows Update may help if the issue persists.
- For sluggish or intermittent movement, check for nearby USB 3.0 interference. Microsoft notes that an unshielded USB device in a USB 3.0 port can interfere with Bluetooth. Temporarily move that device or the receiver away from the Bluetooth radio path.
Check the battery and model instructions
Confirm battery polarity and use only the battery type specified for your mouse. The 100162482 guide specifies one AA battery and says a blinking LED can indicate low battery; other ONN models may differ. The same guide lists Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11 compatibility for that model, which should not be taken as a compatibility statement for every ONN mouse.

Use another computer to isolate the fault
Test the ONN mouse on another computer, and test a known-working mouse on the original PC. If the ONN mouse also fails on the second computer while another mouse works on the original, a fault in the ONN mouse or its receiver becomes more plausible. This test narrows down the likely side of the problem; it does not identify which component failed. A Microsoft community reply to one ONN owner likewise suggests cross-PC testing, but that report is anecdotal rather than a controlled diagnosis.
