If an Aion 2 macro does nothing, repeats the wrong move, or stops after a preset change, check its key binding and active skill preset first. Then inspect the macro’s entries, simplify the sequence, and adjust delay or skill queuing only after the basics are correct. The setup details below come mainly from community guides, so confirm labels and behavior in your current regional client.
Start by matching the symptom to the likely cause

Fix a macro that does nothing
Check the macro’s separate key binding
A community guide says the macro is unbound by default and gives this path: Settings → Key Settings → General → Gameplay → Macro. Assign a key there; putting skills on a hotbar is not the same as binding the macro itself. Menu labels can vary by client region or patch, so look for the equivalent macro binding in your current settings. Source: community setup guide.
Try a keyboard key if a mouse button fails
The same guide reports that mouse-button macro keys may not work in AION 1 control mode. If a mouse input has no effect, test a keyboard binding before changing the sequence. This is a reported control-mode issue, not evidence that every mouse binding is incompatible.

Check the active skill preset
Community guidance describes macros as saved per skill preset, and says changing presets stops a running sequence. Configure the macro on each preset you use, and start it again after switching.
Update notes dated July 15, 2026, reproduced on a community page, say per-preset macro saving was introduced and that settings could rarely reset during an update; affected players were told to set them again. Inspect the macro entries, not just the hotbar
A community guide describes setting up a macro through the Skills window’s Macro control, then selecting the hotkeys or skills for its steps. A newly added step may initially be set to basic attack. Review each entry and confirm that it is the intended action rather than assuming the hotbar arrangement defines the sequence. Community macro guide.
Simplify wrong, repeated, or stalled sequences
Do not treat the sequence as a guaranteed script that executes every listed skill once, in order. The community troubleshooting guide characterizes its entries as priorities: a skill may be retried while the macro moves on. Competing main damage skills or skills sharing a cooldown can make the result look like a wrong-skill problem.

- Test with one or two ordinary, repeatable skills.
- Add entries back one at a time, testing after each addition.
One player reported that consecutive instant-recharge skills stalled a sequence. That is a reason to test that arrangement if it matches your setup, not a universal rule against using such skills. Player report about consecutive instant-recharge skills.
Keep timing-sensitive actions manual
Community advice recommends keeping charged, reactive, burst, movement, and other timing-sensitive actions off an always-held loop. A buff in a loop may fire as soon as it becomes available, even when you do not want it. Adjust delay and skill queuing last
Test delay incrementally
One community troubleshooting guide recommends beginning at 10 ms and raising the delay slightly if skills are dropped. Another reports differing player approaches: 10–20 ms on a good connection or 40–50 ms with high ping, while also describing 10 ms throughout. These are community recommendations, not official universal settings. Start with the baseline from the guide, change only one delay at a time, and retest in your client. Compare both skill-queue states
If inputs seem eaten or manual buffs lag, the community guide suggests testing the combat skill-queue setting both on and off. The available guidance does not establish one state as best for every player or client.

Use the built-in macro for this fix
NCSOFT’s January 28, 2026 update announcement discusses countermeasures against botting and unauthorized automation, a level-45 requirement to participate in gathering, and a feature to cancel basic attacks with left or right mouse clicks. It does not document the in-game macro setup or establish that an external device or macro utility fixes it.
