Match the resolution selected in YouTube Live Control Room’s ingestion settings to the actual width and height your encoder sends. If the warning names an expected resolution, use that value on the encoder—or select an ingestion resolution the encoder really outputs. YouTube recommends automatic resolution detection by default; if you chose a manual setting, check the custom stream key’s manual resolution too.
What the resolution warning means
YouTube compares the incoming video dimensions with the resolution selected in the stream’s ingestion settings. A warning that the resolution “is not optimal” calls for checking whether the current setting is appropriate. A warning that it “is not supported for this configuration” identifies a mismatch to correct: compare the expected resolution in the message with the encoder’s actual output dimensions.
The exact wrong value depends on your channel’s current stream configuration. Read the full warning in Live Control Room rather than assuming a particular resolution or encoder setting is at fault.

Fix the resolution mismatch
- Read the warning in Live Control Room. Note its exact wording, timestamp, and any expected resolution shown. YouTube says errors remain visible until fixed; red errors are critical, while yellow errors are moderate and may reduce quality.
- Check the selected ingestion resolution. In the stream’s Ingestion Settings, find the resolution selected for the incoming stream.
- Check the encoder’s actual output. Confirm the width and height it sends—not just the resolution selected in an encoder menu. Make the encoder dimensions match the selected ingestion resolution, or choose an ingestion resolution that matches the encoder output.
- Check automatic versus manual detection. YouTube recommends automatic resolution and frame-rate detection by default. If you selected resolution manually, verify the manual setting on the custom stream key as well as the encoder’s output dimensions.
- Test the corrected setup. Send a test stream with audio and video movement similar to the planned bhajan broadcast. Check Live Control Room’s stream health messages before relying on the configuration for the public stream.
Automatic detection or manual resolution?

If stream health also reports a bitrate problem
Resolve bitrate and upload capacity as a separate but related check. A resolution warning concerns the dimensions YouTube receives; a bitrate warning concerns the data rate of that feed. Compare the configured bitrate with YouTube’s recommendation for the actual codec, resolution, and frame rate. The following are YouTube Help’s recommended H.264 settings; the accessed page displayed no publication date (accessed October 3, 2026):

These are recommendations, not a guarantee that an internet connection can sustain the feed. YouTube advises choosing a quality that is reliable for the available connection; if bandwidth is insufficient, consider lowering the selected resolution. Test the upload and the full stream setup before the broadcast.
Encoder settings to check
- Video format and frame rate: YouTube’s current help guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video, up to 60 fps.
- Keyframes: Use a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds. A specific stream error may set a more specific requirement.
- Bitrate mode: YouTube recommends CBR encoding.
- Audio: YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio.
- Resolution: Make the dimensions actually sent by the encoder agree with the selected ingestion resolution, whether detection is automatic or manual.
Plan separately for a 24/7 archive
Fixing stream health does not ensure that a continuous broadcast will be archived in full. YouTube says a stream under 12 hours can be automatically archived and recommends keeping a local archive as backup. If a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. For a 24/7 bhajan channel that needs a complete recording, plan local recording and archive management rather than relying on YouTube’s automatic archive.
