A YouTube bitrate health warning means you should check the full warning text, the stream profile selected in Live Control Room, and your available upload bandwidth before changing settings. The correct bitrate depends on the stream’s codec, resolution, and frame rate; there is no single bitrate that can be prescribed for this Hindi news playlist without those details.
Read the warning before changing bitrate
In YouTube Live Control Room, check the message beside the Health Indicator and note its timestamp. YouTube’s dashboard reports incoming-stream errors there: red errors are critical and may prevent an event from starting or cause viewer problems; yellow errors are moderate and may reduce quality. Persistent errors continue to appear until resolved. YouTube’s stream health troubleshooting guide explains the error messages.
Do not assume every bitrate-related warning is about video. YouTube’s error guide also includes audio bitrate and sample-rate errors. Use the exact wording to determine whether to inspect video, audio, or both.
Match the encoder to the YouTube ingestion profile
- Check the selected profile. In Live Control Room, confirm the resolution and frame rate selected in Ingestion Settings.
- Check the video codec and bitrate. Set the encoder to the bitrate guidance for that codec and profile. For an “Incorrect bitrates” error, YouTube says the encoder must use the exact bitrate for the selected resolution unless you are using a variable resolution entrypoint.
- Check audio separately. If the warning names audio bitrate or sample rate, correct the audio setting rather than changing video bitrate.
- If the connection cannot sustain the profile, lower the selected resolution. YouTube lists this as an option when available bandwidth is insufficient. Confirm the corresponding encoder settings after changing the profile.
The following H.264 figures are YouTube ingestion bitrate examples, not prescribed settings for this playlist. The actual profile, codec, and frame rate are unknown.

| Profile | H.264 minimum | H.264 recommended |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
These are not connection-speed targets. YouTube’s full encoder table varies by codec, resolution, and frame rate; check its current live encoder settings guidance for the profile you actually use.
Check upload capacity and encoder settings
Allow bandwidth headroom
Compare the stream’s total bitrate with measured upload capacity, not download speed. YouTube recommends leaving 20% of upload bandwidth unused; other devices or services sharing the connection can reduce what is available. If capacity is not sufficient, reduce the selected resolution or address the network constraint before resuming the intended profile. See YouTube’s encoder guidance and streaming tips.

Verify the rest of the stream configuration
YouTube lists RTMP or RTMPS, H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, CBR encoding, and a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds) among its live encoder settings. Its error guide also flags incorrect format, audio and video settings, resolution, and keyframe frequency. Use the settings that match your selected profile and the warning, rather than changing unrelated values.

Prefer a wired connection when practical
For computer-based streaming, YouTube recommends Ethernet. A wired connection can help when Wi-Fi instability is suspected, but it does not correct a bitrate that conflicts with the selected ingestion profile; check both the network and encoder. YouTube also recommends testing before going live and monitoring stream health and messages during the event. Its encoder setup guidance describes testing, including using an unlisted stream to check audio, video, and equipment.

Test failover for a 24/7 stream
A continuous channel needs a recovery plan as well as a correctly configured primary encoder. YouTube advises testing backup encoder failover. For it to work properly, primary and backup streams need matching settings, including resolution, codec, bitrate, frame rate, keyframe interval, and audio configuration. Test the backup before relying on it in production, and check the health messages when switching. YouTube’s error guide covers matching stream settings; its encoder guidance recommends testing failover.
Troubleshoot by symptom
- The warning persists after a bitrate change: Re-read the exact message and timestamp. Confirm the selected ingestion resolution and frame rate, codec, and corresponding bitrate; the warning may be about audio or another stream setting.
- Health degrades intermittently: Measure upload capacity while the connection is being used as it normally is, and account for YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Check whether other network use competes for bandwidth.
- The stream is stable only at a lower resolution: The available upload capacity may not support the higher profile. Use a profile whose bitrate fits the connection, then verify that the encoder and Live Control Room agree.
- The backup fails to take over cleanly: Compare its resolution, codec, bitrate, frame rate, keyframe interval, and audio configuration with the primary, then test failover again.
- The warning names keyframes, format, or audio: Follow that specific error instead of treating it as a video-bitrate problem; YouTube’s error guide lists these as separate configuration issues.
