If your Samsung Galaxy phone won’t connect to Wi‑Fi, first check whether other devices can use the same network. If they can, focus on the phone: restart it, forget and rejoin the network, and test Wi‑Fi in Safe mode. If no devices can connect or see the network, check the router instead. Work through the steps below in order; menu names can vary by model and software version.
1. Identify whether the problem is the phone or the network
Check the basics before changing settings. Make sure Wi‑Fi is on, Airplane mode is off, the phone is within range, and you are selecting the intended network. If the network is password-protected, confirm you have its current password.
Try connecting another device to that same Wi‑Fi network. If other devices connect, the issue is more likely specific to the Galaxy phone or its saved network details. If other devices also cannot connect—or cannot even see the network—look at the router or access point.
2. Restart the phone and router
- Restart your Galaxy phone.
- Power off the modem and router, if they are separate devices. Wait briefly, then turn them back on and allow them to finish starting up.
- Try joining the Wi‑Fi network again.
Samsung recommends restarting the phone and router as early troubleshooting steps. If the issue affects multiple devices, check that the router is powered and operating normally; Samsung also recommends checking whether its firmware is current. For router-specific instructions, consult the router manufacturer.

3. Forget the network and reconnect
A stored password or saved-network setting can prevent a phone from rejoining. Remove the saved network, then select it again and enter the password carefully. The exact controls vary by software version, but the saved network is typically available in the phone’s Wi‑Fi settings.
- Open the phone’s Wi‑Fi settings and select the network that is failing.
- Choose the option to forget or remove the saved network.
- Select the network again and enter its current password.
4. Use Safe mode to check for app interference
If Wi‑Fi still fails, test the phone in Safe mode. Safe mode disables downloaded third-party apps for the test. If the phone connects in Safe mode, a recently installed app may be interfering; review recent installs and remove or investigate likely causes. Restart the phone normally to leave Safe mode.

5. Reset Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth settings
If the previous steps do not help, Samsung’s US support guide gives this route: Settings > General management > Reset > Reset Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth settings > Reset settings. Labels and availability may differ by model and software version.

This is a connectivity-settings reset, not a factory reset. Samsung Caribbean says it resets Wi‑Fi information, mobile data, and Bluetooth connections. Be prepared to reconnect to Wi‑Fi networks and pair Bluetooth devices again.

6. Run Samsung Members Wi‑Fi diagnostics
If the problem continues, Samsung recommends checking the phone with Samsung Members. Install or open Samsung Members, then go to Support > Get started > Wi‑Fi diagnostics. The app must be installed for this option to be available; the diagnostic path or features may vary.
If other devices cannot see or connect to the network, contact the router manufacturer. If the network works for other devices but the phone’s diagnostics point to a device problem, contact Samsung support.

Samsung notes that menu names, settings, and screen layouts may vary by model and software version. Its troubleshooting steps are recommendations, not a guarantee for every device. Avoid a factory reset as an early fix: the steps above provide less disruptive checks and diagnostics first.
