If the livestream itself goes offline when its final playlist item finishes, check the source application’s end-of-playlist behavior and whether the encoder is still sending content. YouTube’s Loop button repeats a playlist for a viewer; it does not restart a creator’s encoder-based livestream. First confirm what stopped
There are two different situations that can look like a stream “stopping”:
- Only a viewer’s playlist stopped: the livestream or video may still be available, but the viewer’s playlist playback ended. Use the YouTube player’s playlist repeat control.
- The channel’s livestream ended: the event is no longer live in YouTube Live Control Room or on its watch page. Investigate the source application and encoder rather than the viewer’s Loop control.

If only playlist playback stopped for a viewer
Turn on repeat in the YouTube player. The steps vary by device:

- Desktop: open a video from the playlist, expand the playlist panel, then click Loop.
- Mobile: play the playlist and tap Loop in the playlist control box.
- TV or gaming console: select Repeat until the control shows Repeat • Playlist.
These controls repeat the viewer’s playlist. They do not make a separate creator livestream start again or keep its encoder transmitting. (YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube)
If the livestream itself ends at the last item
YouTube’s encoder setup uses a Live server URL and stream key in the encoder. YouTube’s guidance explains that the live transmission ends when the encoder stops sending content. If the event ends at the exact moment the playlist finishes, trace where content stopped flowing: the source/player, the encoder, or YouTube’s availability of the event. 1. Check what the source does at playlist completion
In the application or playback system that supplies video to your encoder, look for a repeat, loop, or restart option. Also check its completion action: finishing the final item must not close the source or tell the encoder to stop. The exact control depends on the software or hardware you use; YouTube does not provide one universal YouTube-side “24/7 playlist loop” setting for third-party sources.
2. Check whether the encoder is still transmitting
After the playlist reaches its end, check the encoder’s status and YouTube Live Control Room. Determine whether the encoder continues sending content and whether the event still appears live. If the source has stopped playback or closed, the encoder may have nothing left to send; if the encoder has stopped, restarting the source alone may not restore the broadcast.

3. Verify the event and output
YouTube recommends checking the preview in Live Control Room, confirming that viewers can access the event from the channel or watch page and on mobile, and monitoring audio and video. If you record a local archive, check that its file size continues to grow. These checks can help distinguish a stopped source or encoder from an event that remains live but is not accessible or is producing a faulty output. (YouTube Help: Live stream troubleshooting)
What kids’ settings do—and do not—explain
A made-for-kids audience setting changes which YouTube features are available. YouTube lists restrictions including live chat, chat replay, Super Chat, comments on archives or upcoming streams, and reminder notifications; personalized ads are disabled on live streams and Premieres, though contextual ads may appear. The reviewed YouTube policy does not identify the audience setting as a cause of a broadcast ending when its source playlist completes. Will a 24/7 YouTube livestream be archived?
Do not rely on YouTube to preserve a complete replay of a 24/7 event. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. That is an archive limitation, not a stated maximum duration for a live transmission. If you need a full recording, keep a local recording and verify that the file is growing while the stream runs.
