Find your YouTube ingest details in YouTube Studio → Create → Go live → Stream: copy the stream URL and stream key from Stream settings, then enter them in your encoder. Prefer RTMPS when available. YouTube does not document a separate India-only ingest endpoint; your channel’s Live Control Room provides the values.
Find your stream URL and key in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Create → Go live.
- In Live Control Room, open the Stream tab. The account-specific stream URL and stream key appear under Stream settings. These are the two values your encoder needs: the URL goes in its server or URL field, and the key goes in its stream-key field. YouTube’s live-stream settings guide describes stream keys as password-like, so keep yours private.
- If you are using an encoder preset for YouTube, select it and enter the key as prompted. Otherwise, paste the URL and key into the corresponding fields in your encoder, then start sending the feed.
The URL and key are specific to your channel setup; there is no separate India-only endpoint in YouTube’s reviewed setup instructions. If you are broadcasting for viewers in India, communicate the scheduled start time clearly. YouTube’s setup guidance reviewed here does not establish an exact timezone-display rule.

Start an immediate stream
Use Create → Go live → Stream to configure an encoder feed for a live broadcast. Start the encoder and check Live Control Room for the incoming preview.

To create an upcoming watch page, open Live Control Room’s Manage tab and choose Schedule stream. Configure the encoder using the stream URL and key in Stream settings. Start sending the feed before the event; once the preview appears, select Go live in Live Control Room to begin the scheduled broadcast. See YouTube’s scheduling instructions.

Use RTMPS when your encoder supports it
RTMPS encrypts the connection between the encoder and YouTube, and YouTube recommends using it. In Live Control Room, select the lock control beside the Stream URL to reveal the RTMPS address, then use that address in your encoder’s server field. Follow YouTube’s instructions for the RTMPS URL.
If the encoder reports an SSL error, check that both the address scheme and host are the RTMPS values—not a mixture of RTMP and RTMPS. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance also suggests port 443 if your encoder lets you specify a port.

Set encoder output for a reliable feed
Use a YouTube preset if your encoder provides one, and make sure it is compatible with your source and encoder. YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists H.264, HEVC and AV1, recommends constant bitrate (CBR), and recommends a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. Choose the resolution and bitrate according to the source, available upload capacity and YouTube’s current recommendations rather than assuming one setting fits every stream. Check YouTube’s encoder settings for the current codec and bitrate guidance.

Plan a 24/7 broadcast around the archive limit
A continuous stream and its replay archive are separate concerns. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single uninterrupted 24-hour session is therefore not a reliable way to produce a complete YouTube replay. If replay matters, arrange shorter sessions and retain a local recording as a backup. This archive guidance does not say that continuous streaming itself is prohibited. Read YouTube’s archive guidance.

Operational checklist for a scheduled event
- Set up the encoder at least two hours ahead of the planned event.
- Start sending the encoder feed at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start, then confirm the preview in Live Control Room.
- Test backup-encoder failover before you depend on it, and monitor audio and video quality during the broadcast.
- Check that local archive files are growing, and confirm the channel and watch page can be accessed, including on mobile.
- For an all-day channel, plan session endings and restarts before the 12-hour archive threshold if you need YouTube replays, and keep local recordings.
These timings and checks follow YouTube’s live-streaming tips. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders; it says professional-grade hardware can suit higher production value, but expensive equipment is not necessary to get started. See YouTube’s encoder overview.
Troubleshoot common ingest problems
| Symptom | What to check |

| No incoming preview | Confirm the encoder is sending a feed, that the server field contains the stream URL, and that the stream-key field contains the key for the intended channel. Check that the encoder is using a supported preset. |
| SSL or connection error | Use the RTMPS URL revealed from the lock control and ensure the scheme and host both use RTMPS. If your encoder supports a port setting, try port 443 as YouTube suggests. |
| The key no longer works | If the key may have been exposed or changed, reset it in Live Control Room’s Stream tab and update the encoder with the replacement. Anyone with access to the channel who can manage the stream can perform the reset. |
| Scheduled stream has no preview or has not started | Start the encoder feed, wait for it to appear in Live Control Room, then select Go live for the scheduled broadcast. |
| Replay is missing or incomplete after an all-day stream | A session exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Use shorter sessions and maintain a local recording if replay preservation matters. |
