The best Samsung Galaxy for your budget depends on which upgrade matters most to you. For the lowest listed price, start with the Galaxy A17 5G. Consider the A27 if you want a smoother 120Hz display and microSD storage, or the A37 and A57 if you value faster charging and higher memory configurations. Before spending around $550 on an A57, compare its checkout price with the Galaxy S26 FE. Choose an S26-family model when its larger-screen, camera or premium features are worth the extra cost to you.
The prices and specifications below reflect Samsung US listings and comparison pages checked on October 4, 2026; prices and promotions can change. Samsung’s own shopper prompt is “What’s the best Galaxy for me?”—the practical answer starts with your spending limit and the features you will actually use.
Start with your budget and the features you will use
Set a ceiling for the phone itself, then account separately for tax, a case, any charger you may need, and the full cost of a carrier plan or financing. Samsung’s listed starting prices are before eligible trade-in, and a trade-in or carrier credit depends on current offer terms and eligibility. Compare the final amount you would pay—not just a promotional headline—against buying unlocked.
Then rank the features that affect your day-to-day use:
#1 Best Overall
- PRIVACY DISPLAY: Automatically hide your screen from those beside you. The built-in privacy display can be preset¹ to turn on when receiving notifications, typing passwords, or using specific apps
- TYPE IT IN. TRANSFORM IT FAST: Enhance any shot in seconds on your smartphone by using Photo Assist² with Galaxy AI.³ Add objects, restore details, or apply new styles by simply typing or tapping
- NIGHTS, CAPTURED CLEARLY: From gigs to city lights, record and capture moments after dark with clarity using Nightography so your photos and videos stay crisp and clear on your Samsung Galaxy
- MAKE IT. EDIT IT. SHARE IT: Turn everyday moments into something personal with creative tools built right into your mobile phone, whether it’s a special contact photo, custom wallpaper, an invitation or more⁴
- HELP THAT KEEPS UP: Stay in the moment while Now Nudge with Galaxy AI helps you respond faster and stay organized with smart suggestions⁵ that appear exactly when you need them on your phone
- Storage flexibility: The A17 and A27 support microSD cards; the A37 and A57 do not. Samsung specifies support for cards up to 2TB on the A17 and A27. Check the phone’s built-in storage tier as well.
- Screen smoothness: The A17 has a 90Hz display. The A27, A37 and A57 have 120Hz displays.
- Charging: Samsung lists up to 25W wired charging for the A17 and A27, and up to 45W for the A37 and A57. These are maximum wired charging specifications, not a guarantee of real-world charging time.
- Size and camera features: Compare dimensions, screen size and camera systems against how you use a phone. Megapixel counts alone do not establish photo quality.
- Ownership period: Check software-support terms for the specific model you are considering. Samsung states that the A27 receives up to six OS upgrades and up to six years of security updates; do not assume that support promise applies to every Galaxy.
Samsung’s compared A-series models do not support wireless charging or PowerShare. Confirm the exact model’s included accessories rather than assuming a charger is in the box. (Sources: Samsung’s 2026 A-series comparison; Samsung Galaxy A27 product page.)

Samsung US listed these starting prices before eligible trade-in on October 4, 2026. Display, memory, expansion and charging specifications are from Samsung’s comparison; headline camera arrays are from its A-series listing. Prices are snapshots, not guaranteed street prices.

Galaxy A17 5G: the budget-first choice
At the lowest observed starting price in this group, the A17 is the straightforward place to begin if keeping the upfront cost down matters most. Its 4GB of RAM and 90Hz display are the clearest compromises against the other compared A models. It does retain microSD expansion, which may be useful if you keep many files on your phone.
Galaxy A27 5G: a smoother screen without giving up microSD
The A27 moves to 6GB of RAM and a 120Hz display while retaining microSD support. It is a logical middle step if you want those upgrades but do not need the A37 or A57’s faster wired-charging specification. Samsung positions it for budget-conscious shoppers and first-time Galaxy users; that is the manufacturer’s positioning, not an independent assessment.
Galaxy A37 5G: faster wired charging and more configuration choice
The A37 offers a 120Hz display, configurations up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and up to 45W wired charging. It does not support microSD, so choose its built-in storage tier with that limitation in mind.

Galaxy A57 5G: the top A-series option, but check the next tier
The A57 has 8GB of RAM, a 120Hz Super AMOLED Plus display, up to 45W wired charging and the highest headline rear-camera megapixel combination among these four A models. Its observed $549.99 starting price is close enough to the S26 FE price tier that the current price gap matters: compare actual checkout prices before deciding whether the A57 or an FE is the better fit.
When it makes sense to step up to Galaxy S
Samsung positions Galaxy S as its premium, high-end series and Galaxy A as its mid-range range. Treat that as Samsung’s broad product positioning, not an independent performance verdict. The S26 family gives you a choice of screen size and camera system, along with higher-tier features; those matter most if you will use them enough to justify the added cost. The S26, S26+ and Ultra specifications are from Samsung’s family overview. The prices shown for the FE, S26 and S26+ were observed on Samsung’s US purchase page in its displayed configurations on October 4, 2026; discounts and configurations varied, so these are not stable MSRP claims. The cited page does not establish a current Ultra price. Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP sheet listed the 256GB S26 Ultra at $1,299.99, but that older figure should not be treated as a guaranteed current price. Choose the S26 when a compact flagship matters
At 6.3 inches, the S26 is the smallest of the three S26 models listed in Samsung’s comparison. Consider it if you want the S-series tier without choosing the larger S26+ or Ultra. Whether its additional features merit the price over an A-series model depends on your priorities and the current price gap.
Choose the S26+ for a larger screen
The 6.7-inch S26+ brings a larger display and a listed 4,900mAh battery. Compare its full camera system and current price with the S26 rather than assuming the larger model is better value for every buyer.
Choose the Ultra for its premium camera and display features
The 6.9-inch S26 Ultra has a 200MP wide camera specification and Samsung’s built-in Privacy Display, which distinguishes it in the family. Consider it if those higher-tier features are important to you; megapixel count by itself is not a measure of photo quality.

Compare the A57 with the S26 FE at checkout
The observed Samsung US purchase-page starting prices put the A57 at $549.99 and the S26 FE at $699.99, but a discount, selected configuration or eligible offer may change the gap. The available comparison does not establish the FE’s screen, battery or camera specifications, so weigh those directly on the product page before choosing between them.

- Compare unlocked and carrier offers. Work out the total payment over the full financing term, including any required plan, trade-in condition and bill-credit duration.
- Verify trade-in eligibility. Credits are conditional; do not treat a headline maximum as a cash-equivalent discount available to every buyer.
- Choose enough built-in storage. The A37 and A57 do not offer microSD expansion. The A17 and A27 do, up to the manufacturer-stated 2TB card capacity.
- Confirm the exact model and accessories. Match a case to the phone’s model and generation, and check what is included in the box rather than assuming a charger is supplied.
- Check final terms before checkout. Confirm the selected configuration, promotion dates, return terms and warranty for your purchase. These can vary by offer and seller.
Samsung’s A-series pages also list entertainment and software promotions at times. Treat such perks as secondary and verify current eligibility and redemption dates; they should not outweigh the phone’s price, storage, display or support terms.
