For India’s medal records across Asian Games editions, use the IOC-attributed dataset hosted by Dataful; for one edition or current results, use the Olympic Council of Asia’s official event results. Filter by year and sport, then check the event result when you need to confirm the athlete or team behind a medal.

Choose the source that matches your question

A medal-table total, a sport-by-sport tally and an athlete’s event result are different records. Start with the source that answers the level of detail you need.

Question Best source What it provides
Which Indian athletes or teams won medals across editions? Dataful’s IOC-attributed India Asian Games medals dataset Downloadable records with year, sport, discipline, winner name and medal; listed coverage is 1951–2023.
How many medals did India win at a particular edition? The edition’s official Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) medal table A country-level medal total and rank for that Games edition.
Who won a particular event or medal during Aichi-Nagoya 2026? Aichi-Nagoya 2026 official results interface Results searchable by National Olympic Committee (NOC) and discipline; use the event result or scorecard for athlete or team details.

Find Indian medals across Asian Games editions

Dataful presents an IOC-attributed dataset titled Sports – Asian Games: Year-, Sport- and Athlete-wise Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals won by India, since 1951. Its page lists 721 rows, 10 columns, coverage from 1951 to 2023, and a last update of 4 July 2024. CSV, XLSX and JSON downloads are listed on the dataset page.

  1. Open the Dataful dataset and choose CSV, XLSX or JSON.
  2. Filter the downloaded records to India using winning_country.
  3. Filter year to the edition you want, or leave the years in place to review several editions.
  4. Use sport_name and, where needed, discipline to narrow the results.
  5. Read winner_name alongside medal_won to identify the recorded winner and medal.

The dataset is a useful historical index, but its coverage ends in 2023. It is not a consolidated record of the 2026 Games.

Check one edition or a live result

For Hangzhou 2023

The OCA’s Hangzhou 2023 results page reports India in fourth place with 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze medals, 107 in total. This is the edition’s country medal table; it does not by itself identify the winners in each sport or event. The page lists 40 sports and 482 events for Hangzhou.

For Aichi-Nagoya 2026

The 20th Asian Games are scheduled for 19 September through 4 October 2026. Use the official results interface for results by NOC and discipline: select India, choose the sport or discipline, and open the event result or scorecard to verify the medal and athlete or team. Results and totals can change while competition is under way, so include the date and time checked when citing a live tally.

The Indian Olympic Association website showed 21 gold, 27 silver, 37 bronze and 85 total, with India ranked fourth, while labeling Aichi-Nagoya 2026 “Ongoing.” The retrieved display had no clear update timestamp, so treat those figures as a live snapshot rather than a verified final total; check the OCA results interface for event-level confirmation.

Verify athlete names and team medals carefully

A sport tally tells you how many medals India earned in a sport; it does not necessarily tell you which athlete won each one. For an individual event, use the event result or scorecard. For a team event, the historical dataset may record a team name or event label rather than list every team member. If you need each athlete’s name, cross-check the team against the official event record or roster.

  • Keep the Games year attached to each result; do not combine 2026 results with Hangzhou 2023 or the historical dataset ending in 2023.
  • Distinguish a country medal-table total from sport totals and individual event results.
  • For ongoing Games, report when the result was checked and verify again before treating it as final.
  • Keep Asian Para Games results separate from Asian Games records.

What to know about 2026 records

The Dataful page’s listed historical coverage is through 2023, with its last update on 4 July 2024. It therefore does not establish a complete athlete-by-athlete 2026 history. Use the official event results while the Games are in progress, and rely on a later historical export only once it includes the completed edition.

There is also a source discrepancy for Hangzhou silver medals: the OCA edition results page lists India with 38, while an OCA article published in August 2026 gives 39 silvers and the same 107 total. For the edition tally, this article uses the OCA results page’s figure.
