Start with the tournament’s official website or its tour event page. Open Tee Times, Pairings or Groupings, choose the correct round, and check the schedule’s time-zone label before using a listed time. If the page offers a time-zone selector, set it to your location; otherwise, convert from the displayed source zone using the offset in effect on the tournament date.
Where to find a golfer’s tee time
- Identify the tournament, player and round you want. Tee times are round-specific, so a listing for one day may not answer when a player starts on another.
- Go to the tournament’s official website or the tour’s event page and open its Tee Times, Pairings or Groupings section. Look for the player’s name in the selected round.
- Read the time-zone label or inspect the page’s Time Zone control. Do not assume the displayed time is local to the course, your location or a broadcaster.
- Check the official listing again close to play. Pairings, tee times and status can change; use the round and date shown on the schedule rather than relying on a copied listing.
A PGA TOUR event page for The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale illustrates this layout: it includes a round selector, tee-time rows and a time-zone control showing UTC. That 2026 event took place July 16–19, 2026, so the page is an interface example, not a current schedule. View the PGA TOUR tee-times page.
Are golf tee times listed in local time?
There is no safe universal assumption. A tournament or tour page may display a stated source zone or provide a selector, but behavior can vary by event and website. Use the label on the specific schedule. The PGA TOUR example above shows UTC; it does not establish that every tour or tournament offers the same control.
If a selector is available, choose your own time zone and verify the displayed date as well as the clock time. If there is no selector, keep the listed time in its stated zone until you convert it. Do not infer the zone from the venue’s location.

How to convert a tee time to your time zone
When the schedule shows UTC
Find your location’s UTC offset for the tournament date, then add that signed offset to the UTC time. For example, if the relevant location is UTC−4 on that date, 14:00 UTC becomes 10:00 local time. This is an arithmetic example, not a real tournament tee time. If the calculation passes midnight, adjust the calendar date too.
UTC itself does not shift for daylight saving time. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) explains that Eastern Daylight Time is UTC−4, while Eastern Standard Time is UTC−5; which applies depends on the date and local rules. When the schedule uses another time zone
Determine the source zone’s offset and your zone’s offset on the event date, then convert between them. A named zone can observe standard time or daylight time at different times of year, and jurisdictions do not all change clocks on the same dates. Avoid treating abbreviations such as EST or PDT as year-round offsets; confirm the applicable local-time rule for both places.
NIST’s Local Time FAQs describe US offsets and terminology, including regional exceptions. For US guidance in 2026, NIST gives the daylight-saving interval as March 8 at 2 a.m. local time through November 1 at 2 a.m. local time. Do not apply those dates automatically to other countries, other years or US locations with different rules. NIST: Local Time FAQs.

Keep the date attached to the converted time
Time-zone conversion can move a tee time onto the previous or next calendar day. Publish or save the weekday and date with the converted local time, especially when following an event in another country. A clock time without its date can point to the wrong round or make a correct conversion look incorrect.

Either way, the official event listing is the source to recheck for changes. A converted time is only as useful as the schedule and time-zone information it came from.
