Search SAM.gov → Contracting → Contract Awards for reported Department of Defense contract actions and award records. You must sign in to a SAM.gov account to search. For broader federal award-spending exploration, use USAspending.gov’s Federal Awards Advanced Search and filter for DoD, the company or award, and the relevant period.
FPDS.gov’s public-facing ezSearch has been retired; SAM.gov says it was decommissioned on February 24, 2026, and directs users to SAM.gov for contract-award searches. SAM.gov’s announcement was last updated August 18, 2026.
Choose the right search site
| What you need | Start here | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| Find reported contract actions and inspect contract-focused award records | SAM.gov Contracting → Contract Awards | Contract-award search and record/report workflow; a SAM.gov sign-in is required. |
| Explore federal awards and spending by agency, recipient, time, or award type | USAspending.gov Federal Awards Advanced Search | Useful for broad exploration and narrowing with award and transaction filters. |
| Begin with a broad phrase or keyword | USAspending.gov Keyword Search | Use it to discover possible matches, then refine in advanced search or verify contract details in SAM.gov. |
| Find help on contract data access and searches | SAM.gov Contract Award Data help | Explains access and contract-data searching. |
The sites are complementary, not interchangeable: use SAM.gov when you need contract-action lookup and record details; use USAspending.gov to explore federal award spending across agencies and refine by recipient, award, type, or period.
Search for a DoD contract in SAM.gov
- Sign in. Open SAM.gov Contracting and sign in to your SAM.gov account. SAM.gov’s contract-data help says users must be signed in to access contract data; public users can search and run reports after signing in.
- Open Contract Awards. Choose the Contract Awards search from the Contracting area. Do not use old instructions that send you to FPDS.gov ezSearch; that public search was decommissioned on February 24, 2026.
- Start with the most distinctive information you have. Try the company’s legal business name, a PIID (procurement instrument identifier), solicitation or notice identifier, or a specific keyword. If you know the contracting agency, use it to constrain the search. SAM.gov describes keyword modes for any words, all words, exact phrase, and a structured Search Editor.
- Refine the results. Apply available filters such as keyword, agency, and legal business name. If a broad term returns too many matches, use a distinctive phrase or identifier and add the agency or awardee filter.
- Open the matching record and inspect its details. Check the award information and any modifications. Establish whether the result is an award record or an individual transaction before interpreting a displayed amount or date.
Search strategy when you know only the company
Use the recipient’s legal business name rather than relying only on a brand or shortened name. If it produces multiple results, add the DoD agency or component when available, then narrow by time period or a known award identifier. A similarly named entity is not enough to establish that a result belongs to the company you mean; confirm identifiers and record details.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Search strategy when you know only the project
Search a distinctive phrase from the project or award description, then narrow by agency and period. If the phrase is common, try the solicitation number, notice identifier, or PIID instead. Compare the result’s description and recipient with what you already know before treating it as a match.
Find DoD awards in USAspending.gov
- Open Federal Awards Advanced Search to target agency and other award attributes.
- Select the relevant Department of Defense agency or component and set the period you want to examine.
- Refine with available filters such as recipient, award ID, award type, NAICS, or award description.
- Open the matching award and check whether you are viewing an award or a transaction; use identifiers to cross-check a likely contract in SAM.gov.
If you are not sure what phrase or recipient to search, start with Keyword Search for broad discovery, then use advanced filters to reduce the results. A keyword result is a lead to verify, not by itself proof that a specific DoD contract was awarded.

Understand what a search result does—and does not—show
Neither site should be treated as a complete real-time list of every DoD purchase. SAM.gov describes publicly available contract-award search information as including unclassified contract actions exceeding the micro-purchase threshold, as well as modifications that change previously reported data regardless of dollar value. Its Contract Award Data help page separately describes agency-reported contract actions with estimated value of $10,000 or more. These are page-specific descriptions; coverage depends on applicable reporting rules and record type, so do not assume every purchase will appear.
USAspending.gov publishes data disclosures covering prime-award start dates, reporting thresholds, update frequency, and limitations. It also has a disclosure specifically titled “Delay in Department of Defense (DOD) Procurement Data.” Check the disclosures for the period you are researching before drawing conclusions from a missing or recently changed record. A record not appearing in a search is not proof that no award exists.

Download or report on contract data
If your goal is more than finding a single record, SAM.gov points users to its Data Bank and Data Services for contract-data reports and APIs. The right route depends on whether you need a one-off lookup, a report, or programmatic access; use SAM.gov’s Contract Award Data help as the starting point for those options.
Troubleshoot common search problems
- You are sent to FPDS.gov or an ezSearch page. That is outdated guidance for public-facing award search. Start at SAM.gov Contracting → Contract Awards instead.
- You cannot access contract data. Sign in to a SAM.gov account; SAM.gov says sign-in is required even for public users who want to search and run reports.
- Your company search returns no results. Try the legal business name, alternate known name, PIID, solicitation or notice identifier, or a distinctive description phrase. Confirm the intended agency filter is not excluding the record.
- Your search returns too many results. Use all words or exact phrase where appropriate, or switch to the structured Search Editor. Add agency, legal business name, award identifier, or time-period constraints.
- A result appears to be missing or out of date. Confirm the period and identifiers, inspect award modifications, and consult the relevant data disclosures. DoD procurement data can be delayed, and agency reporting and coverage rules affect what appears.
- The amount looks inconsistent. Check whether you are looking at the overall award record or an individual transaction, and inspect modifications before comparing figures.
