To find dinosaur exhibits near you, search with your city or postal code, then confirm the fossils, current opening status, hours, admission and route on the venue’s official website before you travel. Search natural history museums, science museums, university museums, parks and visitor centers—not just places called “dinosaur museums.”
Search locally across several kinds of venues
Try your city, postal code or map location with searches such as “natural history museum dinosaurs,” “dinosaur fossils on display,” “paleontology museum” or “dinosaur exhibit.” For example, search “dinosaur fossils on display near [city]” or “museums with dinosaur bones near [postal code].” These phrases are practical ways to find candidates, not evidence that a particular venue has an exhibit open now.
A broader search can turn up displays in natural history and science museums, university museums, parks and visitor centers. A place may have dinosaur fossils without being branded as a dinosaur museum.
Confirm that the display is open to visitors
Search results and general collection pages are leads, not confirmation. Open the institution’s own exhibit page and check for a named gallery or specimen and clear wording such as “on display,” “permanent” or “currently open.” If the exhibit is temporary, check its dates. When the page does not say whether a particular fossil is on view, contact the venue before making a special trip.

If you want to see a specific dinosaur or an original fossil, search the exhibit page for its name and ask the museum if the information is unclear. A museum’s research collection is not necessarily accessible to casual visitors.
Use the map to locate the gallery
Once you have chosen a venue, check its official museum or gallery map. Large institutions may have multiple floors and buildings, and the exhibit page alone may not make the route obvious. The Smithsonian’s Find Your Place tool supports map and state or territory selection; its general museum map identifies the Hall of Fossils – Deep Time and a T. rex Skull. (c001)

For example, London’s Natural History Museum lists its Dinosaurs Gallery as a free, permanent ground-floor gallery, open daily except 24–26 December. Its page highlights part of an early Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton, the first Iguanodon skeleton known to science, a Triceratops skull and Scolosaurus. The museum also posts a recurring September service closure for its animatronic T. rex, a reminder to check current notices even for a permanent gallery. Check the gallery page before travelling. The Antiquities and Monuments Office says Dinosaur Parlour — Quest on Port Island opened after fossil preparation was completed in early 2026. Located in the Centre’s courtyard, it displays prepared fossils and interactive exhibits. The office reports about 30 rocks containing dinosaur fossils excavated from Port Island; it describes the excavation as having begun in 2024, without giving a separate publication year for that count. Admission is free, with weekly opening-hour exceptions. Check the office’s current exhibition and event information for its schedule before visiting. (c006)
Understand the difference between public displays and research collections
Some fossils belong to a museum or park collection but are not part of a public exhibit. At Dinosaur National Monument, the National Park Service says many objects are on public display, but the Collections Room, Accession Room and Paleontology Lab are not casual-tour areas. Research access requires advance written approval and scheduling. Plan around public exhibits, and do not assume that stored collections are open to walk-in visitors. (c005)
