});The selector chooses the elements. The callback transforms each element’s existing text, and .text() writes the returned string as text—not as HTML.
Select the elements whose text you want to change
Start by selecting the elements to update. For example, $(".target") selects every element with the target class. To limit the selection to matching descendants of a particular element, use jQuery’s .find():
$("#panel").find(".target").find() searches descendants of the current jQuery collection. It does not include the starting element itself or search its siblings. The jQuery API documents this descendant-selection behavior at jQuery .find().

Replace every literal occurrence in each element
Use .text(function (index, oldText) { ... }) when the same transformation should run on every selected element. jQuery calls the function for each element, passing its index and current text; return the new string to set that element’s text. See the jQuery .text() API.

return oldText.replaceAll(from, to);
});replaceAll() with a string search value replaces every occurrence of that literal substring and returns a new string; it does not modify the original string in place. This is useful for characters such as ., *, or [, which have special meanings in regular expressions but are treated literally when supplied as a string to replaceAll(). See MDN: String.prototype.replaceAll().

If you pass a regular expression to replaceAll(), that expression must have the global g flag; otherwise JavaScript throws a TypeError. A string search value avoids that requirement.
Use an explicit loop when each element needs custom logic
If an exercise specifically calls for a loop, or each element needs branching or multiple operations, use .each():

});Inside the callback, this is the current DOM element. The callback also receives the element’s zero-based index. Returning false stops iteration early. The jQuery API describes .each() as “designed to make DOM looping constructs concise and less error-prone.” See jQuery .each().
For a uniform text transformation, the functional .text() setter is shorter: jQuery already applies it to every matched element, so a separate .each() loop is unnecessary.

Choose the right replacement method

For example, oldText.replace("-", " ") changes only the first hyphen. To replace every hyphen with replace(), use a global regular expression such as oldText.replace(/-/g, " "). For arbitrary input, do not insert an unescaped search value into a regular expression: regex metacharacters can change what the pattern matches. JavaScript’s string-based replaceAll() avoids that interpretation issue.
Use the setter that matches the content
- Element text: Use
.text(). It treats the returned value as text and does not parse it as HTML. - Input or textarea value: Use
.val(), not.text(). For example:$("input").val(function (_index, oldValue) { return oldValue.replaceAll("-", " "); }); - HTML markup: Use
.html()only when inserting HTML is actually intended and the content is appropriately controlled.
Guard against an empty search string
If from can be empty, validate it before calling replaceAll(). An empty string has unusual behavior: the replacement is inserted between UTF-16 code units rather than replacing a visible character. Rejecting or handling an empty search value prevents an unexpected result.
