First, remove or disable the clip in the playlist, schedule, or media library that feeds your 24/7 stream so it cannot play again. Then handle any YouTube warning while the broadcast is live, and separately review and edit the archived replay if YouTube places a Content ID claim on it. Editing the replay alone will not stop the clip from returning in the live rotation.
Find out whether the problem is live or in the archive
A live-stream interruption and a Content ID claim on an archived replay are separate events. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including another live broadcast. If it identifies a match, it may show a placeholder in place of the stream and warn you to stop the content; if it continues, the stream can be interrupted or terminated. A Content ID claim on an archived live stream is made after the stream ends, if you archive it. YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance describes the live process.
Start by checking the YouTube Studio live dashboard for any active warning, restriction, or strike. If the issue is a replay claim, open that archive in Studio and review its copyright notice or restriction details. Claim details can identify the claimant and the matched content. One video can have multiple claims, including claims from different parties or in different regions. YouTube’s Content ID claim guidance explains how to review them.

Remove it from the source rotation
- Pause or stop the affected playback if you need to prevent the clip from continuing during the current broadcast.
- In the playlist, automation schedule, media library, or other source used by your encoder, remove or disable the identified clip. The precise controls depend on your playback system; YouTube does not specify one universal tool for managing a 24/7 rotation.
- Check the entire rotation for duplicate entries, alternate edits, and scheduled copies. Make sure the source that the encoder actually reads is the one you changed.
- Resume or verify playout and confirm that the removed material no longer appears. If it does, check other playlists or schedules feeding the broadcast.
This source-side cleanup is essential even when you also edit the replay. YouTube Studio’s editor changes the archived video, not the upstream playlist or schedule.

If YouTube flags the material while you are live
Stop the identified third-party content promptly and check the Studio live dashboard for restrictions or a strike if the stream stops. YouTube says a placeholder may replace the stream when a match is found, but the precise sequence can vary; do not assume every detection produces the same warning or outcome.
If you have permission to use the content, a license may not prevent a live interruption by itself. YouTube says the rights owner should add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a stream may still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted, even when you have a license or restrict the stream to certain territories. Ask the rights owner to confirm the channel has been added.

Review and remove a claim from the archived replay
Check the claim before editing or disputing
In YouTube Studio, open the archived live video and inspect its copyright notice or restriction details. Confirm what material and timestamps are identified, who is claiming it, and whether you have the necessary rights. A claimant name you do not recognize does not, by itself, mean the claim is invalid. Dispute only if you are confident you have the necessary rights or the identification is wrong; a Content ID claim is a platform claim, not a court decision.

- Before editing, download a copy if you may need to preserve the original. Since June 2025, saved Studio Editor changes cannot be reverted using the former revert-to-original feature.
- In the replay’s Studio copyright details, choose the available action that fits the identified material. Options can differ by claim and video.
- Preview the edit and check that the identified material is fully removed, replaced, or muted as intended.
- Save the change, allow processing to finish, then reload the page and verify both the replay and claim status. Processing can take time, and a claim can remain if any claimed material is still present.
These controls edit the archive only. Remove the same clip from the source rotation as well if you do not want it to play in a later loop.

Understand claims, takedowns, and archive limits
A Content ID claim is not the same as a copyright removal request
A copyright removal request is a legal request from a copyright owner or authorized representative. If YouTube determines it is valid, the content is removed and a copyright strike is applied. Deleting the video after a strike does not resolve the strike. For a scheduled removal request, YouTube describes a seven-day period in which the uploader may take certain actions to avoid removal and a strike. Follow the notice’s instructions and treat this as a separate process from editing a Content ID claim. See YouTube’s copyright removal guidance.
YouTube’s live-stream terms say providers represent that they have the rights needed to use live content on Google services, including applicable music licensing rights. A claim or live warning is a reason to check the actual permissions and terms for the material, not to assume that a particular use is authorized. YouTube’s Terms of Service.

Keep a local recording when the archive matters
YouTube says it can automatically archive streams under 12 hours; streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. It recommends making a local recording as a backup. The 12-hour figure is an archive behavior threshold, not a guarantee that every shorter stream will produce a usable replay. You can change an archive’s visibility or delete it in Studio. A local copy is especially useful before an irreversible Studio edit.

- The clip appears again after you edited the replay: The replay edit did not change the live source. Remove the clip from the playlist, schedule, media library, or other playout source, and check duplicate entries.
- The claim remains after trimming: Preview the saved edit and check whether any claimed portion remains. If it does, adjust the edit or choose another available action that suits the claim.
- Muting cleared the music but removed speech too: Muting all audio affects the whole selected segment. If available and appropriate, try replacing the song or erasing the song instead; those methods may not work in every case.
- You have a license but the live stream is interrupted: Ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube says a license alone does not ensure the stream will avoid interruption.
- You cannot find an archive or claim: Check whether the stream was archived. Streams over 12 hours may not be captured, and archived-stream claims are made after the stream ends if the replay is archived.
- You cannot restore an edited original: Studio’s former revert-to-original feature is no longer available for saved edits since June 2025. Use a downloaded or local copy if you need the unedited version.
