Sonic’s 35th anniversary falls in 2026, but there is no single confirmed coupon or discount that works across every platform. Offers are tied to specific storefronts and dates; some anniversary rewards are earned in a game rather than redeemed at checkout. Start with SEGA’s official anniversary update hub, then verify the title, edition, regional price, and sale end date in your platform’s own store before buying.
Check whether an offer is still active
Promotions can differ by platform, region, and date. SEGA’s August 17, 2026 sale announcement named PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop, and Steam, but it does not establish that those discounts remain active on October 4. SEGA explicitly advised buyers to confirm the updated price on each storefront before purchasing. Read SEGA’s dated sale notice and treat its prices as historical examples unless your store currently displays the offer.
SEGA’s October 2 notice reported a Steam Autumn Sale price reduction for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, but the notice text did not specify the sale’s exact price or end date. Check the live Steam listing for your region rather than assuming a particular amount or deadline. See SEGA’s October 2 notice.

- Open your platform’s official digital store and search for the exact Sonic game.
- Choose the correct edition and region, and check whether DLC or a season pass is included.
- Read the listing’s displayed offer dates and confirm the final price at checkout before placing the order.
When comparing two listings, also check physical versus digital format and whether the copy is compatible with your account and platform. The cited SEGA notices do not establish cross-platform code compatibility or a universal redemption process.

Where to look on each platform
PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4
SEGA named PlayStation Store in its August 2026 sale announcement. Search the store for the game you want and check the current regional listing and offer dates. That announcement does not confirm an active discount in October.
Nintendo Switch
SEGA also named Nintendo eShop in its August sale. Check the eShop listing for the correct game edition, region, current price, and end date; the August notice alone does not confirm an active October offer.

Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One
The October notice lists Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for Xbox, but its sale notice specifically identifies Steam, not Xbox. An Xbox Wire Sonic Anniversary Sale article describes a promotion that ended June 24, 2019, so it is historical context rather than evidence of a 2026 deal. Read the 2019 Xbox Wire article.

SEGA’s October 2 notice reported a Steam Autumn Sale discount for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Check Steam directly for the current price, region, and deadline. A separate Steam franchise sale in June 2026 offered discounts up to 90% on popular Sonic games, according to SEGA of America, but it ended June 25, 2026. See SEGA of America’s June sale recap.

SEGA lists Epic as a Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds platform, but its October sale notice names Steam. Check Epic’s own listing; do not assume a Steam discount applies there.
What the dated sale examples do—and do not—tell you
SEGA’s August 17, 2026 announcement reported these discounts across PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop, and Steam:
Rank #4
- 5" figures from Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
- 20+ points of articulation
- Wave 1 features Sonic, Tails, Shadow, and Ivo Robotnik
- Suggested for kids ages 3 years and up
- Each sold separately
| Game | Discount reported in SEGA’s August 2026 notice |
|---|---|
| Sonic Frontiers | Up to 65% off |
| SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS | 70% off |
| Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds | 60% off |
These are examples from that dated notice, not guaranteed current offers. Discount availability and final price can vary by storefront and region. The same announcement reported 5 million Sonic Frontiers units worldwide as of August 14, 2026, counting physical units and digital downloads; that sales figure is not a discount or a measure of paid-only sales. SEGA’s August announcement has the details.
Distinguish store discounts from in-game anniversary rewards
Not every anniversary offer is something you redeem at checkout. In its October 2 notice, SEGA described a Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds event running from October 2, 2026, at 9:00 JST through October 5 at 8:59 JST. Players earned event points toward in-game items; the notice describes participation rewards, not a store discount or redeemable coupon code. The stated event window has passed as of October 4? Actually October 5 8:59 JST is future relative to Oct 4; it remains active only until that stated end time. Check the notice and in-game event status for availability in your region.

What “redeem” means for a Sonic offer
For a digital-store discount, there is usually no separate Sonic coupon to enter: use the official store listing and verify the reduced price before purchase. The available notices do not document a step-by-step code-entry flow, account-menu path, or gift-card method for every platform, so do not rely on a generic redemption sequence. If an offer is a code rather than a displayed store discount, use the current instructions from the platform that issued it and confirm platform, region, and account eligibility before applying it.
For an event reward, follow the game’s event notice and earn the stated points or complete its stated participation requirements. SEGA’s CrossWorlds notice describes earning points toward items, not entering a checkout code. Check the official event details.
Other anniversary-related options
SEGA’s anniversary hub is the best place to look for campaign updates, but an anniversary-related product is not automatically discounted. SEGA announced a physical Sonic Frontiers – Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 with a scheduled September 17, 2026 release; that is a related game option, not evidence of an anniversary price cut or a particular retailer’s stock. The 2021 Japanese Sonic Colors: Ultimate 30th Anniversary Package included an art book, compilation CD, and limited collector coin; its Japanese release and yen pricing should not be treated as current worldwide availability. Read SEGA’s 2021 package announcement.
SEGA’s January 16, 2026 announcement dates Sonic’s origin to the 1991 game and says the series reaches its 35th anniversary in 2026. It also reports 1.77 billion cumulative units for full games and free-to-play titles combined; that total is not a paid-game-only figure. See the official anniversary announcement.
