For alerts on a chosen area, use the Air Alert app and enable its notifications; you can also follow the relevant regional civil-protection channel. Check the official air-alert map for displayed status, but do not rely on a map page as your only warning: keep listening for sirens and follow current instructions from local authorities.
Choose alert routes that cover your location
These options serve different purposes. An app or a messaging channel can notify you; a map lets you check displayed status; sirens and local instructions provide warnings and response guidance where you are. Use routes that actually cover your location, and consider more than one because no single channel is a guarantee of timely or complete warning.

Set up the Air Alert app
- Install Air Alert if it is available for your device and location. Current app-store availability and country restrictions are not established here, so check your device’s official app store.
- Open the app and allow notifications. Enable critical alerts if your phone offers that setting; consult the live app and operating-system menus because labels can change between versions.
- Select the relevant region, district, or territorial community. Lviv Regional Military Administration says the app offers all regions and more local selection. Confirm that your selected area matches where you need warnings.
- Keep the device able to receive alerts, and check the app’s alert status and all-clear notifications. The regional authority describes a process in which an operator transmits an alert signal through a control center to users who selected the corresponding area, and later sends the signal to lift it. This is the authority’s description, not a delivery-time or reliability guarantee.
Lviv Regional Military Administration says the app does not require registration and does not collect personal or geolocation data. This is the authority’s published description, not an independent technical audit. Its guidance also says the app receives alarm information directly from Ukraine’s regional administrations.

Follow a regional Telegram channel
Use a civil-protection channel only after confirming it serves the place where you are. Lviv Regional Military Administration identifies its own channel for alert notifications, including beginnings and endings; that local example should not be treated as a nationwide channel. Turn on Telegram notifications for the channel and retain another warning route, such as the app or local sirens.

Check the official air-alert map
Open the official Ukraine Air Alert map to inspect the status displayed for regions and communities. The page shows categories including red- and yellow-level air alerts, artillery danger, street fighting, chemical danger, and radiation danger. Status and counts are live information and can change while you view the map.
A Zavodske city council page says the online maps it describes update automatically every 15–20 seconds. That interval is the local authority’s statement about those maps; it does not establish a refresh interval for every map or the app. The same page says Ukrainian Air Force radar units detect potential air threats and that not all threats can be detected. A displayed map status therefore cannot establish that every threat has been detected or that an alert will reach every person.

What to do when an alert sounds
- Go to the nearest shelter and follow instructions issued by the authorities for your location.
- If leaving home, Lviv Regional Military Administration advises taking important documents, needed medicine, and some food and water.
- Inform neighbors and people with disabilities who may need assistance.
- Stay in cover until the all-clear is issued. Check an alert channel or local instructions for the all-clear rather than assuming that silence means the danger has passed.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine’s 1 March 2022 app launch notice described app notifications as duplicating city sirens, while also cautioning that the app is one tool and people should account for additional external warnings. Treat app notifications, maps, and messaging as additions to—not replacements for—local warnings and instructions.
