To find free Fortnite cosmetics, check the current Item Shop in Fortnite or through Epic’s official web shop, then look for free rewards from active in-game challenges and the free Battle Pass. Only claim an item when Epic’s official game or channels show it is available; offers and shop inventory can change.
Where to look for free Fortnite cosmetics
Check the Item Shop
- In Fortnite: Open the game and select the Item Shop.
- In a browser: Visit Epic’s Fortnite Item Shop.
- Review the current listings and confirm an item is marked free before claiming it. The shop rotates, so an item’s availability and price can change.
Check challenges and the free Battle Pass
Epic lists completing in-game challenges and accessing free Battle Pass content among the ways players can earn free items. Check the current game for available challenges and reward requirements; these depend on the content that is live.

Secure your Epic account with 2FA
Epic also lists securing your account with two-factor authentication (2FA) as a route to free items. Enable 2FA through your Epic account’s security settings if it is not enabled. Epic’s guidance does not promise a particular current cosmetic or reward for doing so.

How to tell whether a free offer is legitimate
Epic says genuine offers appear in the Epic Games Store, on official Epic websites, or through official Epic social media channels. Confirm an offer there before following its instructions. Treat third-party pages and social posts promising free V-Bucks or cosmetics as suspicious, especially if they ask for your password, account access, or an unofficial support ticket.

What happens if you miss an item?
Seasonal rewards
Many free items are tied to a particular season and are only available during that season. Epic Player Support says it cannot grant missed items on request, so do not assume a past challenge reward can be restored.
Battle Pass items released after August 7, 2024
Epic says Battle Pass items released after August 7, 2024 may become available in the Shop at least 18 months after the relevant Battle Pass expires, but there is no guarantee. This is a possibility, not a scheduled return date, and it does not establish the same policy for every older Battle Pass item. Support cannot grant an item or offer that is not currently in the Shop.

Other shop items
Epic says the Item Shop rotates and advises checking back if an item you want is no longer available. A possible future return is not a promise that a specific item will come back.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
